She is always throwing holiday parties and have events where the parents can participate. They have music class and a gymnastics instructor come in. They always have special event like the fire company visiting and even a dinosaur guy for Dino week. The summer program is even more amazing as she has water days and the snow cone truck comes to visit. All of my friends envy the education and experience that we get at Mother Goose. We can only review our experience with the Infant and Toddler rooms. There are some good things happening here. Unfortunately, there are also things that caused concern and lead us to withdraw our child. During tours, the center has stated they follow NAEYC standards though not NAEYC accredited. We did not see any hint that NAEYC standards were followed. When issues were raised, the Texas minimum child care standards were referenced as to what we should expect. Pros: + Location! If you live in Circle C, it can't get any better than this. + Very new facility, new rooms, new equipment and new toys. + Short waiting list. + Some really good teachers. The current lead teachers in Infant 1 and 2 are excellent. We attribute their expertise to so much of our child's developmental progress. You can tell that the teachers really love the kids. The Infant 1 lead is especially supportive of first time moms who are going back to work and leaving their babies in her care. There were several assistant teachers who were exceptional and our child had a very obvious love for and attachment to them. +Parents Night Out (PNO) and Shopping Day Out +Excellent outdoor play areas +Indoor play gym for younger kids +Class parties were held from time to time so that parents could get to know each other. +Excellent meals and snacks. Cons: +This is a for-profit center. Decisions are based on profitability vs. quality of care. If a child can be moved to the next level to open up a spot in a younger level (i.e. more expensive) class, management will make it happen even if the child may not be developmentally ready to move up. Teachers provide input but the ultimate move-up decision is up to management. +Questionable illness reporting policy. Class illnesses are reported verbally only if another child exhibits a concerning symptom. There is no practice of telling all parents immediately when an illness occurs even if the illness is a severe, contagious, and potentially fatal sickness like RSV. +Room ratios are often stretched to the max based on the Texas minimum standards. If 2 teachers can have 13 toddlers in the room or 10 older infants, then 13 toddlers or 10 older infants they shall have. Teacher to student room ratios grew worse as our child aged up. This often led to overwhelmed teachers who truly loved the kids but were not trained and supported enough to manage such large classes. As class size went up, more mistakes were made such as leaving children in poopy clothes and less frequent or missed diaper changes. +Inconsistency/turnover of teachers. At the Toddler level, there was much inconsistency in teachers. Absenteeism was high, lead teachers were many, and there were frequent subs. +Lack of knowledgeable back up teachers for each age group.The subs seemed untrained in caring for younger children. Subs pulled from older age groups appear trained in the procedures to follow for the younger age groups. A daily parent communication sheet must be completed in the younger classes where children are not developmentally capable of talking about their day. On days with subs, the sheets turned optional or were poorly completed at best. +Move up transitions were poorly coordinated with the families and happen frequently. When a new child moved up or entered the center, it was chaotic for the entire class. As a parent, we were given little information at transition time. There was also little or no transition time for the child unless demanded. +Administrative organization, effectiveness, and accountability seemed lacking. Our enrollment papers were lost. The facility boasts a family referral fee which we never received even after the referred family fulfilled the probational period. Issues reported to management were pushed back to the teachers to handle. Overall, expect to pay a premium price for at best average care.",,,,
