Pay it or we will sue you. Who sues their customers for $60 with a legitimate dispute? What an awful experience there."

We are sad to take our business elsewhere, but until they can find an optometrist that has the proper demeanor with children, we won't be back."

I did not feel that the first time I visited them that they were particularly friendly, but it went well enough. It also seemed that the equipment was very accommodating for someone with limited mobility and the staff seemed reluctant to be helpful and were not even really aware of how a chair might be too high and needed to be lower, etc. even though I was facilitating all the transfers. Dr. Shores suggested that, though she has thick cataracts in both eyes, she was seeing well enough and so we did not make any changes. Then she had a stroke and lost some peripheral vision, causing her to now have to look through the cataracts. The decision was to have them removed. We decided to use Dr. Shores to co-manage the aftercare, but had trouble coordinating appointments because they are closed on Wednesdays but we did it. When I went there a second time, I was running a few minutes late and called to apologize and let them know - we had just moved my mother to a new facility the day before and the new logistics were getting the better of her and me. They seemed even less friendly the second time, possibly because I was late. I left with an uneasy feeling. Then, with only 3 business days before her next surgery, they called to tell me they needed to get some more notes before her next surgery and I had to come in again - I was very frustrated to get such short notice when it's such a project getting her to appointments - not to mention my own tight schedule. I told her quite shortly I would call her back. I called the surgeon's office and asked them to find out why this was necessary. After attempts on their part and mine, the office finally sent the notes that they did have. It turns out that Dr. Shores had failed to run a test that was needed. I was pretty done with Hadlock Vision and apparently they were done with me and refused to continue to co-manage her care any longer. I was considering them for my own care as well and mom had already picked out some eyeglass frames from them - happy to go elsewhere.",,,,

My partner is legally blind with a very rare condition, and this Doctor has been the only one in his lifetime that has been able to get him into disposable contact lenses. The convenience this has allowed him, after over 45 years of needing intense vision correction, has been life changing. He no longer has to worry about losing his only contact lens. The doctor is incredibly thorough and gifted. As for the office staff, they seem polite enough. But, they have to stay afloat by selling their glasses. Measuring pupilary distance requires someone to sit with the person and spend time, essentially, providing the fitting for the glasses. Why should they provide that service so that you will then go online and purchase the glasses? That is like going to a bridal store, asking for a fitting, getting the measurements and then going online to buy the dress. I know that they took a lot of time to help my neighbor's child get his replacement glasses through medicaid, which required them to deal with that insurance company. They went out of the way to make sure he was able to get the replacement because medicaid was at first rejecting. So, as for them dealing with insurance companies, they had no problem with it when I asked for them to help. In summation, and to me what matters the most, the doctor there is the best. What a MISTAKE. As I was being checked in for my appointment I was told by a man named Josh, that according to their computer I do NOT have insurance coverage for an exam available so if we continue it will be full cost. I was extremely upset after driving 30 miles to get there. I asked why they had not prepared by getting pre-approval for the visit. I explained we had spoke 3 times by phone before and if there was a problem it should have been addressed then. I informed him that if he call my provider I AM covered 100% for the exam INCLUDING the glasses. At this point another man came into the scene and took over. Josh sat in the back ground watching and listening. I was being told they don't call insurance companies on appointments. I continued to plea that someone get on the phone and call my provider. The information University Opticians has is NOT correct. The man eventually looked over the computer that Josh was using earlier and got on the phone to call my provider. While sitting on hold on his phone, the man asked me what my co-pay is and I told him $0. He stated the computer told him it was $35. I explained that is also NOT correct and he can confirm this as well on the call. By the end of his call it was confirmed by my insurance that I was 100% correct. I was covered 100% for the exam, including the glasses and with $0 co-pay. This is when I thought I would get an apology of some sort. NO not at all. I felt to try to turn the situation a little more comfortable, I would actually apologize. I did so and explained that I was not trying to cause any problem. I told him that I am disabled and can't deal with situations like this. That I don't understand how others do. He than rolled his eyes and rudely told me to ""Quit complaining"". Stating that I was making the situation worse. He walked away to inform the doctor that I was ready to be seen. I looked over to Josh, who was still just sitting in the background watching, and I told him I was leaving. As the other man came back into the room I told them I wouldn't give them a penny of my money and refuse any service from them. As I was doing this, the man pulled out the phone and got on it. Was he calling the police? I walked out the door. If you want to be treated like CRAP by UNPROFESSIONALS, this is the place!
