They put us in a room for over 5 minutes even after seeing what our baby looked like when we came in then they came and got her and took her. I waited a little bit and know one came and told me anything so I went looking for them and saw them working on her and was told I would have to go back in the other room. I did for about 20 minutes and when I went back I was told Dr Flynn had to leave and I was pretty upset because she left my dying baby with who I was then told she was also a vet. But didn't she just graduate or just start here I'm pretty sure I heard her tell the guy in the lobby she just started a couple of months ago. I stayed back there and they were unable to do anything. My husband suggested we go to the vet hospital in town and we were told they were not really a hospital they were just vets like themselves and they couldn't do anything other than they were doing. When Dr Flynn came back she told the other vet she could go to lunch and then told me these things always happen during lunch time. she fumble around for a while then tried to used the oxygen machine admitting to not really knowing how to then at 1:20 she died. I took my 10 month old pitbull mix to this clinic after her and my 2 year old boxer were in a dog fight the night before, we seen doctor Eric Krasa. The first thing he said when he entered the room was ""Is that a pitbull?"" My dog was perfectly kind to everyone in the clinic but when he entered the room my dog backed up against the wall, the hair an her back stood up and she growled (which is out of her character). The vet had a musle put on my dog and informed me for 45 minutes in the presence of my 11 year old son and 5 year old daughter that my dog was aggressive and needed to be taken to the shelter to be put down. He went over and over the liability and home owners insurance coverage needed to keep an aggressive pitbull. He stated that puppy classes were no use for this type of dog and giving her to a family that didn't have another female dog would only be pawning my problem off on someone else. He said that my dog would need to be sedated in order for him to clean her wounds because he wasn't going to risk being bitten. I left my dog at the clinic to have her wounds cleaned for about an hour and a half. Upon returning they were reluctant to bring out my dog the vet came in and discussed that she would need an antibiotic twice a day. (That's all he said.) When the tech finally brought my dog in the room she was crying uncontrollably and urinating all over herself and the floor. He had cut what had been a small tooth puncture wound into a huge gash about a 1/2 of an inch around and at least a quarter inch deep on the top of my dogs nose without telling be before or after he had done it and also never offered any pain medication for the now huge wound on the top of her snout or offered any advice on how to keep the huge open wound clean. I am astounded and apauled with the unprofessionalism and nerve of any veterinarian that would lecture an adult pet owner infront of their two small children on not paying for medical care to treat their injured family member but to rather spend that money on having the dog euthenized. I'm also very upset that he cut a huge hole in my dogs face without telling me first. I believe that my dog was neglected and hurt while supposedly having her wounds cleaned all because of the type of breed she is. also after our terrible visit I read the google reviews for this business and seen that another pitbull had been mistreated at this clinic by the same doctor. I'll never return."

Jackson said this was ""post-operative"" and would not answer any questions we had. When our dog was home, she suffered until she died on my lap at 1am in the morning. In short, my family believes that Jackson knew she was going to die. He never told us the risk of putting an old dog on anesthesia and dodged our questions about her condition. I will never take any of my other pets back to this vet office ever again."

I made that mistake with Benson, my 10 year old St. Bernard mix when I saw the first signs of bloat (gas build-up). No history was taken and the vet started immediately with expensive treatment, suggesting euthanasia. I knew better. I knew the protocol of placing a stomach tube down his throat to release the gas. Against protocol and my instructions, HE LEFT MY DOG THERE FOR TWO HOURS UNTIL BENSON WAS IN AGONY AND HIS STOMACH HAD TWISTED. VCA Valley Animal Med Center's own response to the Better Business Bureau about this incident was the dog arrived in stable condition and didn't need treatment. Anyone whose ever had bloat before knows that MINUTES COUNT. From the onset of symptoms, the dog can be DEAD in 2-6 hours , yet there Benson lay. The Better Business Bureau has downgraded VCA Valley Animal Med's rating from A+ to B+.for their refusal to communicate on this matter. I had to pressure them for the quote and it was beyond ridiculous at $6,200 -- 100% of it they wanted immediately before treatment (remember they have had 2 hours to do this, but didn't even bother to do a quote. They wanted hours of testing that they would have already have been able to do and that's when I found out THEY NEVER REMOVED THE GAS. I pulled Benson out of there and had to drive him 80 miles to the next emergency clinic in Grand Terrace. He was in complete shock now, beling left untreated for so long, and had to be carried in by stretcher versus happy and tail wagging when he originally arrived at VCA Valley. The Animal Emergency Clinic in Grand Terrace was what I would expect from an emergency center. They rushed him right in and before I had the paperwork done the surgeon was out to tell me that they had releived the gas, had started treatment for shock (which is part of protocol and should have been done at VCA Valley) and she asked me what I wanted to do next. This major delay now created another issue -- would Benson's stomach have died because of the lack of blood getting to it. But, we had to try and surgery was performed. Unfortuntely, we had to delay surgery once again because VCA's incompetence at not starting precautionary treatment for shock meant Benson had to be stabilized before surgery. Now for the good news. Despite all that VCA Valley Animal Medical Center tried to thwart, BENSON SURVIVED AND HAS HAD A COMPLETE RECOVERY. I have reported this incident to the California Veterinary Medical Board who has started a formal investigation. This happened in April and I immediately disputed the credit card bill of nearly $500.00 I had to pay for them to release the dog. In JULY -- THE TRIED TO SNEAK THE CHARGES BACK IN AND RE-SUBMITTED THE CHARGES TO MY CREDIT CARD. The credit card company has been called and they are immediately removing the charges. The papers are ready and the lawsuit against them will be filed on Friday. Judge for yourself. Would you want to go through this. Would you want you pet to have to endure this type of horrible treatment. Incidentally, I wasn't a new client. I have been going there for years for acupunture treatments, but they couldn't even bother to look up my name in their computer. If they don't think you can or will pay, if they don't want to be bothered, YOUR ANIMAL WILL DIE UNDER THERE CARE. Grand Terrace is further out, off the 215, but your dog will get PROPERLY TREATED. The bill from Grand Terrace -- $1,825.00 --- LESS THAN A THIRD of VCA's quote."

Diane was the only consistently decent staff person there. There were a couple of reeeeeeally rude staff members there which were the reason I left, one being the newer Office Manager at the time (SO missed the other office manager - she was awesome!) New one gossips, talks about patients and other staff in earshot of other patients, Very desensitized to people in pain, even laughs at very inappropriate times when you're going through a hard time. There is always a wait there, and way too many animals (meaning they overbook - watching out for the almighty dollar at the patients' expense) - cats would always become ansy(sp?) while waiting (up to 2-3 hours sometimes). Always felt pressured to leave without getting full answers to questions, nice as they are, they had too many patients, but always left feeling unsatisfied that I got all the answers I needed. I lived one block away (just across the graveyard, in fact) and when my beloved cat was ready to go to the rainbow bridge (inoperable liver cancer attached to veena-cava per the VMSG), and Dr. Dennis who I pleaded with if he could come put her down at my home (one block over) declined because """"he rode his bike in that day"""". (Again, one block over, I could have given him a ride - nice guy in some ways, but a little uncompassionate. When I brought her in to be put down (she saved my life, by the way), he didn't even turn her towards me. I was so distraut, I wasn't thinking straight, but will always regret not """"Being completely there"""" with her when she left this Earth and that I wasn't asked if I'd like her facing me. SO expensive and wouldn't authorize my buying fluids on line, whereas my new Vet does. VCA, at that time, charged about $20/1000mL bag of fluids, the rudest of all staff (besides the equally rude office manager) gave me the wrong fluids (was supposed to get Sodium Chloride w/lease calcium and she gave me Lactated Ringers) and was super rude about it when I questioned if they were the right fluids 'cause I thought it was supposed to be something else. When I tried to explain to the newer office manager, she just laughed. I can honestly say I hate that place. I don't care how """"upgraded"""" they become, I would never set foot in their parking lot much less their office again. No compassion, care, clarity with questions, long wait, WAY overpriced (you'd think them being a """"national chain"""" they could lower their prices, getting their supplies in a bigger bulk for all of their office). My one-office local Vet now *Dr, Hallock in San Luis Obispo"""" is way more than fair, he really, really likes your animals, talks to them authentically, explains clearly, helps you in any way he can. Anyways, back to VCA - NOT!!!!!!!",,,,
