I've stayed at many hotels but this one stands out as it's not JUST a hotel, it's a private club and a world class athletic fascility. I worked out during my stay, they had floors and floors of different athletic equipment and fascilities that caters to anyone's needs. They also have a free business center, bars and restaurants....so much more. I didn't get to see everything. The best part is everything is under one roof! This private club has a glamour the new places can't possibly recreate. It's history is rich and a staple in Los Angeles and you can feel it when you walk into the club. The Hotel is beautiful and the room that we stayed in (room 323) was fantastic. It was a very large room and was spotlessly clean. The furnishings were elegantly appointed and we had a fantastic view of a nearby lake. The only disappointments: no small refrigerator in room, no hair dryer, and no window covering over the bathroom window (which wasn't a big deal to throw a towel over it). The hotel is not air conditioned, but with the 3 windows opened, we had a nice breeze the entire time. It never felt hot or stuffy. The room was very quiet and we never heard any of the people in adjoining rooms nor did we at any time hear the water running through the walls. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The ghost tour was fun and worth the $10 per person (reserve space in advance as they fill up days in advance). The only disappointment to the tour is that you never know when the alleged """"haunted"""" rooms are booked and thus have no access. Instead ,the tour will take you only to the front of the room and the guide will tell stories about the room. You do get access to the employee tunnel during the tour, which is fascinating! There is a Safeway shopping center in walking distance as well as fast food/ shopping. The surrounding grounds are dry due to drought conditions, but are still fabulous! It is a mountain setting and visitors should not expect to have lush sprawling lawns given its location. It fits perfectly with the surroundings- it feels like a mountain resort. Highly recommended (although if bringing children, the only activity for them is the pool)."

They were shown a room that was neat and clean compared to others they had seen in different motels. When my wife and I arrived there with our son on February 18 we found a room that smelled like smoke. There was mold in the drop ceiling tiles in the kitchen area and on the tub surround in the bathroom.. The sink area was filthy and the cabinet partially kicked in. The refrigerator had things growing in it and the stove top was filthy. The bed linens were stained and ripped as was the carpeting.I do not expext the Ritz Carlton for 70 dollars a night but I expect things to be neat and clean. We stayed for less then 2 hours before deciding to go to a Holiday Inn that was double the price buta much nicer atmosphere with a much better clientelle. I am writing a complaint to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation for the state of Florida and I wil also be writing to the Palm Beach County authorties as well. This is my first time ever rating a motel. I felt that tis was extremely important as other people will unfortunately be using this facility. Hopefully they will read this and other reviews and take their business elsewhere if the owner has not cleaned up the place. Just because a person may not be able to afford over 100 a night or does not want to spend that much just for a place to sleep does not mean they should have to put up with these kind of conditions.",,,,

I love how the servers did not rush me in serving the food and allowed my guests and me to take some time between the courses to relax and socialize. The food was served hot and the quality was everything I have come to expect and love from the Inn. Not knowing how many of my guests would drink coffee I chose to have a coffee station and allow my guests to serve themselves which worked out perfectly. The coffee cups did not clutter the tables and my guests were able to get up and move around. The bartender was quick, efficient and personable. Overall my experience at the General Sutter Inn was excellent and I would recommend the facilities to anyone that asked me. If you are considering the General Sutter Inn, I would hope you would check it out yourself and see the service and quality of food the town of Lititz has become used to."
