He was very nice, my wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses looked beautiful but his customer service was horrendous. He made my wedding gown, 6 bridesmaid dresses, and altered my rehearsal dinner dress. Please see details below: It was extremely stressful to work with him because he didn't meet any of his deadlines. He had made me a bridesmaid dress, because I really liked the design, and was supposed to have it altered to fit me before I left for the wedding. Unfortunately, he didn't complete it by his deadline and said he would mail it to me. When I arrived back in the UK, after the wedding, I tried the skirt on, because I wanted to bring it with me on the honeymoon, and he never even altered it. When I questioned him about this he didn't respond and I ended up having to pay someone to alter it for me which was extremely frustrating because I had already paid for the alterations. Furthermore, he was supposed to alter my rehearsal dinner dress and send it in the mail to my house 2 weeks before the wedding so that I could get it pressed. When the dress didn't arrive I phoned him and he told me that he had mailed it regular mail. Sadly it was 6 days before the rehearsal and it wouldn't arrive in time. The day after the phone call I sent him an email telling him how upset I was because I had to buy a brand new dress. He then wrote back saying that he never actually mailed it and asked me if I would like it sent next day. I didn't want to risk this so I had a friend pick it up and bring it with her to the wedding, and I therefore had to wear the dress wrinkled because it arrived the day before the rehearsal and I didn't have time to get it pressed. Another issue that upset me was that my wedding gown wasn't exactly as I had wanted it when I walked out with it. Sadly, I had to take the dress because he didn't finish it in time for me to make further alterations on it. When I had agreed to have him make the gown back in August 2010 he had said that I wouldn't leave the shop, or pay for the final payment, until the gown was exactly as I had wanted it. There was no excuse for the dress being made at the last minute since he had known about it 1 year in advance and had received all of the fabric 6 months before the wedding. Furthermore he was unable to get the blood out of the dress that he got on it while sewing it. Additionally 1 bustle broke before I even made it to the reception and an additional 2 broke during the reception. As for the bridesmaid dresses, 3 of the girls skirts and corsets were extremely large. One girl had to have her skirt taken in so much that the seamstress had to remove the pockets altogether. The cost for these alterations were over 100 dollars/girl. I don't understand how the skirt and corset could have been so large on these women when he had their exact measurements. All 3 of the girls skirts were 6 inches too large. Overall, the dresses looked great but I wouldn't use him unless you lied about when everything was due, and even then he's not reliable. There are plenty of quality people in California who could make your dress by the deadline. It's not worth the stress or agrivation. I know we're all human, but this experience was beyond human error...it was just plain neglect and taking a customer for granted."

The day I went in to PICK IT UP and take it home, THE WEEK OF MY WEDDING, it was a disaster. I arrived on time for my 4:30 appointment at sat and waited for over a half an hour while she worked with another client. I kept hearing Jenny say that she had to leave to go to the doctor thinking she was trying to hurry the other client out. I was shocked when she said she didnt have time for me because she had to leave!! They quickly brought out my dress and I was floored because nothing had been done on the dress since the last time I was in. I mean, cups were still not sewn in and the side was still not taken in (among other alterations that were supposed to be done). It was supposed to be a session where I tried it on, all was good, I paid and walked out with the dress, but it turned into a nightmare. Jenny went into the back to get her stuff while her assistant helped me into the dress. On the way out the door Jenny looked at me and said, """"If you dont want me to go to my doctor's appointment, just tell me."""" Her assistant kept telling her to go, but Jenny kept looking at me - the client - for a decision! It was so inappropriate and I was very uncomfortable. If Jenny left, that meant my dress would not be ready that day, but if she stayed, she would alter it while I waited. It was so unprofessional to put me in that position, and it was a decision Jenny should have made without me ever knowing. During the week of your wedding time is the most precious commodity, and at this point, I was totally wasting mine. She told me she could bring the dress to me the next day, so I said ok. Jenny left and I was feeling very upset. We finished with the fitting (which again was not supposed to be a fitting, but rather a final try on and leave) and I left feeling sad and mad. I wound up going back myself the next day on my lunch break because I didnt want to wait around till the evening for Jenny when I was supposed to be leaving town! I got there and the dress was ready. I went to pay (they only take cash) and Jenny didnt have change. She was asking other clients, staff, and delivery people if they had change, which speaks to their disorganization. She never took notes at fittings, which is perhaps why I when I went back the last time nothing had been done. The week of my wedding, this stress was the LAST thing I wanted to deal with, so all said and done, though the work was ok, the stress was not worth it.",valeriec12,07/09/2010,five,"I have not had Jenny alter anything for me, but I have had her make me several items. I have been very pleased with her work and I have a very specific and sometimes hard to replicate design sensibility (Marni, with all of its folds and unique twists on classic silhouettes is my favorite clothing label). She was recommended to me by someone at B&J Fabrics when I needed a bridesmaid dress made in a hurry (the bride gave us about two months to find a dress in a specific color. well after several weekends of scouring every store in Manhattan and every online site I could think of, I could not find anything in that color that was appropriate for a black tie wedding). The dress came out great, exceeding my expectations for such quick work. I have also found her to be very reasonable. Another tailor, whom I had used several times before discovering Jenny, quoted me an astronomical amount as it was a rush job and a formal gown. While not cheap, I thought her price was very fair and did not take advantage of the rush nature of the job (yes, she charged me more for a rush job, but not a ton more). Since that dress, I have had her make me several other items. None of these has been a rush job, but just items that I wanted to add to my wardrobe. I have been equally pleased with the work, turn around time and price. What's also given me confidence in the overall quality of her work is that I've met several repeat customers during my visits to discuss ideas, drop off fabric, try on muslins, be fitted, etc. I only wish that I had discovered Jenny years ago!"

Karoza did not communicate to us that the reason the dress was cheaper with them was because they were removing an essential piece of cloth that went underneath the dress (which is what made the dress hang and drape so beautifully in the first place). In addition, the intricate, sweetheart-shaped bodice was so poorly sewn and horribly disfigured - it looked like a 3 year-old had constructed it. We had to find expert seamstresses to try to correct the horrid mess. The material WAS NOT satin-faced taffeta like advertised in the Jim Hjelm brochure & what Karoza had promised - instead it was just a cheap-looking taffeta. 3 of the girls took their dresses to 3 different seamstresses for alterations -- all 3 seamstresses concluded that indeed the material was not satin-faced taffeta & the construction was not professional -- only feeding my own frustration even more! MaryLynn's in Pasadena had given me a sample of the REAL material mailed from the Jim Hjelm studio in NYC and it was not the same as the girls' bridesmaids dresses from Karoza. To top it off, the color was completely off. Yes pretty much everything was wrong. I'm not sure if what they did was make the dresses themselves, sew on a Jim Hjelm tags, and sell it to us cheaper this way, but that is certainly what it felt like. I wouldn't recommend Karoza, if you want peace of mind, go with Mary Lynn's even if it is more expensive! A bride has enough to stress about as it is! It was sadly disappointing - I guess you get what you pay for."

It is for my destination wedding so I was really worried that it would get ruined. It came out perfect! Here are the details - I went to Best Fit on a Saturday shortly after they opened (without an appointment). They let me in and had me change into my dress. The seamstress pinned me and had me look at myself in the mirror for approval. Once everything was pinned in all the right places, I changed, paid and left. I have to admit, I was a little scared that the entire process took about 10 minutes. I picked up my dress a week later and it's PERFECT. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! The material is an extremely delicate crinkle chiffon and the back straps are very complicated (criss-cross sort of pattern). Best Fit altered the straps perfectly. When I first looked at the dress after alterations, I thought they had not done anything to it because it looked like it was in it's original condition. So in sum - Best Fit does a great job, and can handle even the most delicate, complicated alterations. They aren't super friendly and won't give you a ton of personal attention. But if you need something done quickly and with impeccable craftmanship, I can 100% recommend Best Fit."
