He answered the phone the first time and then told me to call him back once after we had tried to get a jump from a passing samaritan (thinking it was a battery issue). The jump didn't work and the car died again. I called him OVER AND OVER AND OVER and he screened my calls all afternoon/ evening. We used our own AAA account to get it towed back to Kimo's Rental Car once we realized that we would be on our own and the ""Emergency Hotline"" was good for nothing. We had to take an Uber back to our lodging and another one back to Kimo's in the morning. The most ridiculous part of this whole story is that in the midst of this catastrophe, I figured that I'd try calling the ""Emergency Hotline"" from the place that we were having dinner, assuming that he was screening my phone number. He didn't answer the first time but he CALLED BACK the local 808 number saying ""I just had a missed call from this number"". WHAT ABOUT THE 20 MISSED CALLS FROM YOUR CUSTOMER STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD?!?!?! Would never rent from them again and would never recommend anyone to rent from Kimo's."

DO NOT Buy from Them!!!! After coming to terms with a deal and leaving a deposit of $500, we were told that they would be trucking in our car because we didn't want one with 200 miles already on it. The car was supposed to arrive at the dealership after 2 days but after calling numerous times with no response from our sales guy or any of the sales manager they finally said they had located the car. They then tried renegotiating the terms of the sale by saying they were going to charge us NJ sales tax when the registration and primary driver for the car was in FL, probably trying to pocket the difference in the sales tax for themselves. We emailed them back that the sales manager no longer wanted to do business with us after we did not agree to pay for the NJ sales tax as that was not what they told us from the start and that we wanted to get our deposit back but they were completely unresponsive with our phone calls. At first we noticed that the phone would ring a few times before going to voice mail and after figuring out it was us calling they would send us straight to voicemail after one ring. We had to drive down 40 minutes after being unable to contact anyone from Elite Acura to get the $500 deposit back. When we got there we spoke with a sales manager who was sitting at his desk even though we called him 5 times while we were on the road. He took us to the private documents room and shut us inside so that no one else could see we had an issue with them and started slamming the cabinets when he couldn't even find our sales folder. He lied about not having a copy of our deposit payment as it was made by credit card and then magically it appears from the same folder a few minutes later. I kept my cool and told them to check out the tires, I get a call 10 minutes later stating that I'll need two new tires. He quotes me a price. I come back 1.5 hours later and...............while scrutinizing the receipt I'm signing notice that I'm being charged for 2 quarts of oil and other misc. totaling about $75. SCAM. I bring it to his attention, no apology, and he removes it. I'm furious and ask to speak to a manager. I'm not sure the person I spoke with, but he was even less helpful. No apology again. No seeing my point that this was far too big to be coincidence and that it was major ineptitude at best. He offers a %15 discount card, but I already paid for a 10% discount card a year ago so it's now 5% off of service up to $500. BIG DEAL!!! I leased my old Subaru from Mid City about 3 years ago as well, and had an OK experience then. I came in last weekend just to see if I qualified for a lease and to see what WRXes were available. There was only one, which was blue, and had more stuff on it than I was looking for. The salesman I dealt with, was really nice and had a no-pressure approach. He let me test drive the car even though I wasn't interested in this particular car, so I could at least get a feel for the WRX. After the test drive, I stated the numbers I was looking for and my salesman brought the GM, Jordan, to the negotiation table. Jordan's numbers were way too high initially. He initially assumed I wanted the WRX I just test drove and when I told him I wanted a different one, he looked around the state for one, found one to my liking, and settled with the numbers I was asking for. It was probably the easiest pre-negotiation I'd ever partaken in. Jordan told me the car would be in and ready on Monday so I followed up on Monday night and much to my surprise, Jordan kept his word and the final agreement still had the numbers we discussed earlier. My salesman transferred my plates and city sticker over to my new car and was extremely helpful. Even though I didn't really need it, he went over all the features of the car and went over the important parts of the manual. The only reason they don't get five stars is that someone misplaced the extra keys for the new car and it took almost half an hour to find them and it was already late and I was tired and ready to go home. I'd definitely do business with Mid City Subaru again, if another Subaru is in my future."
