ABOUT RECOVERY FIRST WEST

Located in the coastal community of West Palm Beach, Fla., Recover First West provides a residential, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), a sober living support program, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), and aftercare services for adults who struggle with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The rehabilitation center is one of nine high-end facilities operated by American Addiction Centers, including a nearby Hollywood location.Medically-monitored detox is available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Recovery First West (and other American Addiction Centers facilities) treat substance abuse as a chronic disease. In the disease model of addiction care, clients are treated as if they have a disease like any other that requires medical treatment and continuing care to recover from. Treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation so that the treatment team can develop an individualized treatment plan.

Recovery First West uses a collection of different cognitive, experiential, physical, and educational therapy types to create a comprehensive treatment for clients. The treatment curriculum is designed by American Addiction Centers, and is based on self-examination, education, and the development of coping skills.

Clients participate in individual and group therapy sessions using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and trauma therapy. Aside from the cognitive therapies, experiential therapies like music and art therapies are offered.

Clients needing the most intensive care are admitted to the 90-day residential program. Once that program is complete, clients are transitioned into IOP, PHP, or aftercare programs. Clients are encouraged to participate in community-based support networks including 12-step meetings. Family involvement is also a priority and on-site or online participation can be arranged.

A typical residential treatment plan is for 90 days. Some clients may continue in an intensive outpatient program or begin with a partial hospitalization or day program. Aftercare is available for clients that complete the 90-day program. Clients will be included in an additional 30 days of recovery support to maintain a sober lifestyle.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team at Recovery First West includes licensed and credentialed medical doctors, registered nurses, board-certified psychiatrists. The team also includes licensed substance abuse and mental health counselors as well as social workers with advanced education degrees and licenses in their appropriate fields. In addition, the facility employs personal trainers and nutrition professionals that work with the medical team to facilitate physical rehabilitation services.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, more than 101 alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com about Recovery First had positive feedback. The 101 alumni surveyed, on a scale from one to five, on whether they would recommend the facility to others, gave a cumulative rating of 4.34 out of five stars.

The facility’s staff received mixed feedback. Of 29 reviewers who mentioned staff techs, more than two-thirds complained of disorganization, inadequate training, and poor communication; however, on average, alumni rated the staff's level of training and experience 4.2 out of five stars. In a representative moderate review, alum Paul wrote that there were “Inconsistencies depending upon who is working the shift.” Alum Dustin wrote: “Good counseling, not enough techs, lack of feedback from techs. It was a good experience for the most part.” About half a dozen alumni reported that staff were caring and ten highlighted the positive community and fellowship.

Opinions about accommodations also varied. Alum K.L. wrote: “you can trade anything for the incredible staff,” going on to describe the amenities as disappointing. Some identified the ability to prepare one’s own food as a strength, while about as many did not prefer this approach. Many noted the beautiful grounds, but others described the living quarters as poorly maintained.

On Google, the facility earned 3.8 out of five stars from 11 reviews. ^[1] Eight of the reviews were positive. Alumni praised the staff members, who, according to alum John, “do the best they can to make getting sober less painful.” In a representative review, alum Adam wrote: “The facilitators and therapists genuinely cared about me and every other client in the facility. To be honest, I miss it and I wish I could go back because of the lessons I've learned while I was there. Without Recovery first I wouldn't know what I'd be doing today with my life. It has changed my mindset for the better and I'm truly blessed to be in the position that I am today.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, four loved ones provided feedback to Rehabs.com about Recovery First West. The feedback was mixed.

Positive reviews and survey responses highlighted family participation and treatment effectiveness as strengths and tech understaffing or inconsistency as a weakness. One wrote that “Cost was a bit much,” giving affordability three out of five stars.

WHAT STAFF SAY

To date, Rehabs.com has received feedback from three staff members of Recovery First West. The feedback was mixed, with two positive and two negative reviews. The staff members didn’t agree on the ratings for any of the categories surveyed. One staff member described management as “dedicated” while another wrote that “It’s all about the money.”

FINANCING

Recovery First West accepts a range of private health insurance plans. The facility also provides a free insurance coverage verification service. Private pay is accepted, and payments can be made by cash or check. Recovery First West can also establish a payment plan if the other methods are not appropriate for a client. Healthcare service loans are available through Recovery First West.

According to its website, the facility also participates in a “Brand Promise” which is a guarantee of recovery success. Clients that complete the 90-day program can receive an additional 30 days of recovery follow-up services to ensure that they stay sober. These services are provided for free.

Entering a rehabilitation program can be an intimidating experience. The staff at Rally Point understands this and we are here to help in any way possible. Prior to your arrival, we will go over all of the necessary details with you and work directly with your insurance company to ensure you are getting the proper coverage. Located in beautiful West Palm Beach, Fla., Rally Point is a state-of-the-art rehab facility for adult men struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring disorders. Combining traditional 12-step and holistic approaches, treatment options include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and two outpatient (IOP and standard) tracks. Rally Point works closely with a few local detoxes.

At the root of its programming, Rally Point sees addiction as a brain disease that “causes a chemical change which alters the brain and changes how it functions, leading to harmful and self-destructive behavior patterns.” In addition to 12-step meetings, a typical day at Rally Point may include one-on-one counseling and group therapy sessions, life skills training, and substance abuse education lectures and presentations. Clients also have several holistic opportunities to choose from such as acupuncture, yoga, fitness training, and music and art therapy. Despite personal preferences, family involvement is highly encouraged throughout treatment and is made possible through special events and video conferencing.

Each man has access to three unique programs. With several hours of daily therapy at its core, the PHP track supports clients through an around-the-clock staff five to seven days per week. Individuals seeking treatment that is accommodative of a busy schedule may benefit from either IOP or standard outpatient treatment. Slightly more demanding, the IOP track entails a minimum of nine hours of counseling and addiction education per week, whereas standard outpatient treatment consists of one or more group, individual, or family sessions per week. To facilitate flexible scheduling, outpatient sessions are available day, night, and on the weekends.
