"college.description": "The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire prepares students to succeed in a connected world influenced by global economic and social forces. It is our goal that before graduation, every student experience at least one of the outstanding hands-on learning opportunities that set us apart -- including study abroad, internships, domestic or international cultural immersion programs, and faculty-student research. Our students earn top-level honors, including Rhodes, Truman and Goldwater scholarships. Over the past decade, 19 UW-Eau Claire students have received prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards -- placing it in the top 15 U.S. master's universities for number of student Fulbright grant recipients. The American Institute of Physics has recognized our physics and astronomy department as one of eight nationally that are successfully using best practices to place bachelor's degree earners in the STEM workforce. Our business program has distinguished itself through its ACCSB International accreditation -- a mark of quality achieved by fewer than 5 percent of all business schools in the world. UW-Eau Claire has a nationally recognized undergraduate student-faculty research program. By their senior year, nearly 40 percent of all students have worked with faculty on research and other scholarly projects. Results from these projects have been published in prestigious journals (such as the Journal of Marketing Development and Competitiveness, PLOS ONE, and Chemical and Engineering News) and are presented by students at regional, national and international conferences. Our highly respected music program features faculty and students who perform worldwide, and our Jazz Ensemble I has been honored seven times (most recently in 2017) with the national Down Beat Award for Best Undergraduate College Big Band. UW-Eau Claire offers many programs that allow students to study, live and work in international settings, as well as programs that bring international students to campus. UW-Eau Claire ranks 29th nationally among public and private master's-level schools in the overall number of students it sends abroad, and it is the only master's-level school in Wisconsin or Minnesota among the top 40 U.S. institutions in that category. A growing number of education students complete their student teaching abroad. Many students earn scholarships through competitive programs to study and conduct research abroad, and more are completing internships in international settings. Students also are having meaningful domestic cultural immersion experiences, ranging from civil rights pilgrimages in the South to volunteer work in Wisconsin tribal schools to research in Western mountain ranges. UW-Eau Claire is one of just a handful of public regional universities in the country -- and the only one in Wisconsin -- to include service-learning as a graduation requirement. UW-Eau Claire has been named seven times since 2006 to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Each year UW-Eau Claire students generate more than 365,000 community-service hours, and the value of their service totals more than $8.2 million a year. UW-Eau Claire is a signatory to the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. The Princeton Review included UW-Eau Claire as one of just two UW System regional universities on its 2017 list of 156 \"academically outstanding\" Best Midwestern Colleges. In Washington Monthly's 2016 \"Best Bang for the Buck\" rankings, UW-Eau Claire ranked first among all University of Wisconsin System universities and in the top 10 percent of Midwest master's level schools that help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. In 2017, Victory Media named UW-Eau Claire a Military Friendly School for the eighth year in a row, as well as a Military Spouse Friendly school. UW-Eau Claire also was included in the Military Times \"Best for Vets: Colleges 2017\" list.",

"college.description": "Arizona State University is a comprehensive public research university that measures itself by whom it includes and how they succeed; advances research and discovery of public value; and assumes fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves. ASU champions intellectual and cultural diversity. Its research is use-inspired, breaking the boundaries that traditionally separate academic disciplines. ASU has been named the #1 school in the country for innovation by U.S. News & World Report for the last two years, ahead of #2 Stanford and #3 MIT, and the top U.S. public university for international students by the Institute of International Education. ASU's Tempe campus offers hundreds of majors that engage undergraduates and graduates in multidisciplinary research and exploration in first-rate laboratories and facilities. Students pursue a wide range of majors including business, liberal arts, design, engineering and the sciences. At ASU, students customize their college experiences by augmenting their classroom study with opportunities for research, study abroad, leading student clubs, volunteering and more. Students can also customize the way they learn, choosing 7.5- or 15-week semesters, online or in-person classes, obtaining concurrent degrees or pursuing a master's degree while earning an undergraduate degree. ASU emphasizes innovation and entrepreneurship -- here students can invent products or start ventures with the full guidance and support of the university. With an unrivaled commitment to sustainability, the Tempe campus is the most solar-powered of any in the U.S., exemplified by massive solar structures providing shaded walkways and parking across the campus. It also offers easy access to all of metropolitan Phoenix through public transit including light rail. The expanded fitness complex welcomes students to take a break from their studies and focus on their health, while the Sun Devil Athletics facilities, performing arts venues, including the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Gammage Auditorium, museums and vibrant downtown Tempe location complement this diverse university environment.",
