  • ","UCLA offers virtually unlimited opportunities for inquiry, discovery, and education -- and yet is a close community that provides a real sense of belonging. The campus is home to world-renowned faculty who teach in 216 undergraduate and graduate majors, with more than two dozen of these academic programs ranked among the top 20 in their disciplines. The faculty provide more than 5,000 courses annually, with two-thirds of undergraduate classes having fewer than 30 students. The undergraduate experience can begin with a year-long Freshman Cluster Course, a stimulating team-taught exploration of one of 10 challenging interdisciplinary topics. In addition, 200 Fiat Lux Seminars -- where freshmen have priority enrollment -- are taught by senior faculty in small-group settings of approximately 20 students. Undergraduates also conduct research as early as their freshman year, with more than half of UCLA students graduating with research experience in the humanities, social sciences, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) disciplines. Outside the classroom, UCLA offers more than 1,000 student organizations providing students with ample opportunity to explore their interests, express their opinions, and have their voices heard. Community service is a cornerstone of undergraduate education at UCLA. Students can connect with opportunities through programs at the Volunteer Center, through more than 220 student groups engaged in community service, or on Volunteer Day, which brings together 8,000 UCLA volunteers annually. UCLA also encourages students to study abroad -- more than 2,000 do so each year -- with more than 392 programs in 43 countries. UCLA is home to leading research centers and institutes, top performing arts programs, an elite Division I athletics program, and the preeminent hospital in the Western United States. • ","Colorado College is a nationally prominent, very selective, four-year liberal arts college founded in 1874. The 100-acre campus is located in the heart of Colorado Springs near the base of Pikes Peak. Colorado College offers an academic setting and a course of study as varied as its dramatic natural environment. The liberal arts curriculum provides an unsurpassed education for highly motivated students of varied social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds, to prepare them for positions of professional, political, and civic leadership in an increasingly complex, interdependent world. In addition to bachelor's degrees, the college offers a master of arts in teaching degree. One distinguishing feature of Colorado College is the Block Plan. Implemented in 1970, the Block Plan divides the academic year into eight three-and-one-half-week segments or ""blocks."" Students take and faculty teach one block at a time. (Each block is equivalent to four hours of credit under a semester system.) Students complete eight blocks per academic year. The Block Plan affords several advantages. First, courses do not place competing demands on students, so they are able to give their full attention to each. Professors organize their courses creatively. Seminar discussions, group projects, laboratory research, and field experiences are as frequent as lectures. At Colorado College, the student is an active participant, not a passive recipient, in the learning process.","Private, Coed",1874,N/A,Semester,City,"$660.1 million +","14 E. • ","The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is located on the west bank of the Thames River in the New England shoreline town of New London, Conn. In 1876, the Revenue Cutter Service (predecessor to the U.S. Coast Guard) established a program of instruction aboard the topsail schooner Dobbin. The program was relocated to New London in 1910 with a move to the historic Fort Trumbull site, and the city has been home to the institution ever since. From the outside, the Academy is a small New England campus with more than 100-acres of rolling hills, Georgian-style brick buildings and a fleet of small boats dotting the piers along the waterfront. From the inside, it is an institution like no other. It is the center of leadership training and the single accession point for all officers in the U.S. Coast Guard, the smallest armed service in the United States. As one of the smallest of the five federal service academies, the institution graduates and commissions more than 200 Ensigns each year. According to its mission statement, the Academy is, committed to strengthening the nations future by educating, developing, training, and inspiring leaders of character who are ethically, intellectually, professionally, and physically prepared to serve their country and humanity, and who are strong in their resolve to build on the long military and maritime heritage and proud accomplishments of the United States Coast Guard.Every Coast Guard cadet completes core studies in sciences and liberal arts, selecting one of eight majors offered and specializing in one of 13 programs of study. Training aboard the Barque Eagle, a 295-foot tall ship, has been part of the cadet experience here for more than 60 years. The decks of a sailing ship are still considered the best place to experience the power and majesty of the ocean first-hand. As the ocean is both the workplace and the key resource Academy students will be charged to protect, the experience is vital in developing them into effective and confident leaders. Athletics also forms an integral part of the training program, with 23 intercollegiate sports offerings. The Academy is highly committed to ensuring that the representation of the cadets and faculty is reflective of the nation it serves. Diversity is vital to mission readiness and excellence, but academic success is still the primary consideration in the institutions admissions process. Significant progress has been made to improve minority recruiting at the Academy with the incoming class of 2019 made up of 34% Underrepresented Minorities (URM), a substantial increase from the class of 2014 which included 24% URM. • ","Yale is both a small college and a large research university. The College is surrounded by thirteen distinguished graduate and professional schools, and its students partake in the intellectual stimulation and excitement of a major international center of learning. The faculty is known for its special devotion to undergraduate teaching. Many of Yales most distinguished senior professors teach introductory courses as well as advanced seminars to undergraduates. Faculty members are accessible to students and take a great deal of interest in working closely with undergraduates. Yales curriculum allows students to achieve both breadth and specialization across several disciplines. In addition to probing a major field in depth, students are expected to explore three important areas of knowledge - the humanities and arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. While exploring several subject areas, students are also expected to sharpen their writing, quantitative, and foreign language skills. Yales unique residential college system organizes the student body into twelve small communities where students live, eat, socialize, and pursue academic and extracurricular activities. Before arriving as a freshman each student is randomly assigned to one of the colleges, giving students a built-in community from the moment they arrive. Most Yale students become convinced that their residential college is the best residential college. Each college is home to a microcosm of the undergraduate student body as a whole, and allows students to have the cohesiveness and intimacy of a small school while still enjoying the vibrancy and resources of a world-class university. Yale students are actively involved in the New Haven community, benefiting from and enhancing the citys many cultural, recreational, and political opportunities. New Haven boasts diverse and abundant resources in the arts. There is a vibrant cultural and artistic life in the city, a myriad of opportunities both academic and social, and a remarkable choice of places to eat. New Haven is part of a Yale education: the experience of contemporary urban life broadens students perspectives and helps prepare them for life after college. Yale students have a long tradition of intense involvement with extracurricular activity. There are more than 500 active organizations on campus, ranging from the Undergraduate Math Society to the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project, and including 50 performance groups and 60 cultural associations. This enormous range of opportunities endows Yale College with a palpable energy and spirit of commitment. But perhaps the first thing that students notice about their college is the caliber of their fellow students. There are extraordinary artists, student government leaders, star athletes, passionate activists, award-winning poets, prize-winning scientists, and people who are just simply ""well-rounded."" Because Yale students come from such a wide range of ethnic, religious, cultural, geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds, there is a remarkable exchange of ideas. Yale is a major research university that focuses primarily on undergraduate education and encourages students to become leaders of their generation in whatever they wish to pursue.","Private, Coed",1701,N/A,Semester,City,"$25.4 billion +","New Haven, CT 06520","(203) 432-4771",96,100.0 15,"2018-05-03 06:25:27","Sacred Heart University","Sacred Heart University offers a number of student services, including nonremedial tutoring, health service, health insurance. Since it opened its doors in 1823, Trinity has remained steadfastly committed to providing a liberal arts education that is both relevant and timeless. We aim to prepare students to be bold, independent thinkers who lead transformative lives. Our distinctive curricular offerings -- including an interdisciplinary program in neuroscience, a professionally accredited engineering major, a first-of-its-kind human rights program, and a newly established Center for Caribbean Studies -- engage students in learning inside and outside the classroom, connecting them with communities and cultures in the Hartford region and worldwide. Students take advantage of extensive opportunities for experiential learning, community service, and internships, and about 60 percent of Trinity students study away at some point during their college careers, many of them at one of our nine semester or year-long study away programs in cities around the world: Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, New York, Paris, Port of Spain (Trinidad), Rome, Shanghai, and Vienna. At home in Hartford, our 100-acre campus is a beautiful green oasis in the city, complemented by a new presence at Constitution Plaza downtown, where our Liberal Arts Action Lab will open during the 2017-18 academic year. With 41 academic majors, 29 Division III varsity teams, and more than 100 student clubs and organizations, ours is a campus community that values diversity, integrity, and intellectual vitality, encourages innovation, builds resilience, promotes balance, and instills the joy of lifelong learning. To recruit the most talented and engaged student body from all over the world, Trinity no longer requires standardized test scores and waives application fees for first-generation college students. • ","Connecticut College is a selective liberal arts college that educates global citizens who are prepared to make a difference. Located in the historic whaling city of New London, the 750-acre arboretum campus overlooks both the Thames River and Long Island Sound. It is within minutes of a transportation hub providing access to Providence, Boston and New York City. Founded in 1911 as a college for women in a state where higher education was reserved for men, Connecticut College has long supported underrepresented populations and maintains a commitment to environmental stewardship and social justice. Conn became co-ed in 1969. Among Conn College's many unique qualities, perhaps most noteworthy is its innovative curriculum, called Connections. In this visionary approach to the liberal arts, students examine issues from a multitude of angles and draw connections between their experiences inside and outside the classroom. Working with a team of advisers, students build an intentionally integrated study plan, and set a course for their personal and professional lives. Conn's well-established career program is directly connected with the academic experience, and guarantees every student a funded internship before they graduate. A network of accomplished alumni around the globe helps ensure that students' internships are relevant to their studies and career aspirations. One of the hallmarks of Connecticut College is the 94-year-old Honor Code, including self-scheduled exams, which fosters an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect among students, faculty and staff. Through a system of shared governance, students participate in campus decision-making and serve in leadership roles. A member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference, Conn offers students the opportunity to compete both in NCAA Division III team sports and club sports. About 30 percent of students are varsity athletes. There is no Greek system at Connecticut College, but students may choose from nearly 100 clubs and organizations. • ","The University of Chicago is universally recognized for its devotion to open and rigorous inquiry. The strength of our intellectual traditions, intense critical analysis, and free and lively debate draws from our engaged scholars who continually seek creative solutions to complex problems. Our College graduates have made discoveries in every field of academic study; they are ambitious thinkers who are unafraid to take on the most pressing questions of our time. Their accomplishments have established the Universitys legacy as one of the worlds finest academic institutions. The University of Chicago is affiliated with 89 Nobel Prize winners, over 260 Guggenheim Fellows, 32 MacArthur ""Genius Grant"" Fellows, and 24 Pulitzer Prize winners. UChicago is also renowned for the unparalleled resources it provides its undergraduate students. Our 217-acre campus contains six libraries with over 11 million print volumes; over 150 research centers and institutes, including the new Institute for Molecular Engineering and the Institute of Politics; world-class theaters, museums, and art centers; and three of the nations top professional schools in law, business, and medicine. Rooted in Hyde Park, a neighborhood home to both our campus (certified as a botanical garden) and over 60 percent of the private homes of our faculty, UChicago offers a true campus-based community within the context of a major American city. Our students engage the city of Chicago and its many neighborhoods through groundbreaking research and scholarship, unparalleled internship opportunities, and a commitment to community service. Just as Chicago is a global city, the University of Chicago remains a truly international university: we offer over 45 faculty-led study abroad programs in over 20 countries, including those in conjunction with our centers in Beijing, Hong Kong, Delhi, and Paris. UChicago maintains a student-faculty ratio of 5:1, ensuring that every classroom experience exemplifies our commitment to close interactions between students and faculty in small, discussion-style seminars. Our famous Core curriculum - courses in eight subject areas that all students, regardless of their major, are required to take - provides students with a common vocabulary and a well-balanced academic experience, while allowing them the flexibility to explore their own particular interests within those eight subject areas. The Office of Career Advancement helps students translate what they are studying in our classrooms to their future careers. Career Advancement counsels students through individual meetings and larger pre-professional programs, the UChicago Careers In programs. There are eight different UChicago Careers In programs that cover sectors ranging from business and law to health professions and journalism, arts, and media. Additionally, Career Advancement connects students with over 1700 Metcalf internship opportunities - fully funded internships across a range of industries that are only available to UChicago students. Students also enjoy a highly successful Division III sports program; a small but active Greek life community; over thirty-five student theatrical productions a year; a rich music scene; and extraordinary opportunities in politics, music, theater, commerce, and neighborhood life in the city of Chicago. The Universitys Financial Aid program is extraordinary thanks to the new No Barriers program. No Barriers is a comprehensive plan to increase access to college, support students as they receive an empowering education, and prepare them for lifelong professional success. Families who apply for financial aid do not have to pay a college application fee to UChicago. All of UChicagos need-based financial aid comes in the form of grants and scholarships, which do not need to be repaid. With more than 4,000 courses and 190-plus majors, minors, certificates and concentrations, anyone can plot their own unique Northwestern direction. Northwestern's six undergraduate schools offer choices in arts and sciences, communication, education and social policy, engineering and applied science, journalism and integrated marketing communications, and music. In addition, Northwestern students can choose from more than 130 study abroad programs in 50 countries. Northwestern's 8,400 undergraduates are collaborative, innovative, committed to success and to service -- and friendly. Northwestern is a place where students are not limited or confined to a specific academic discipline, but instead are free to explore their options and create their own path. Northwestern's 1,200 full-time faculty members include recipients of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award, and MacArthur ""genius"" grant, as well as other awards and honors. In 2016, Board of Trustees Professor of Chemistry Sir Fraser Stoddart was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry ""for the design and synthesis of molecular machines."" In the faculty ranks are members of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and other honorary and professional societies. But they are also dedicated teachers, with many of the top scholars and researchers working side-by-side with undergraduate students. With 77 percent of classes having fewer than 20 students, and Northwestern's low 7:1 student-faculty ratio, undergraduate students have numerous opportunities to collaborate with faculty in research, as well as receive career advice and assistance from faculty mentors. Northwestern offers a variety of financial aid options to make a Northwestern education accessible to all. From scholarships to work-study programs, the University works with each individual student and family to provide the necessary resources, and approximately 60 percent of undergraduate students receive financial assistance. Northwestern provides generous need-based scholarships and grants, including a No-Loan Scholarship program, which means that qualified students can graduate debt-free. And with 95 percent of Northwestern graduates employed or continuing their education full-time within six months of graduation, a Northwestern degree is an extraordinarily valuable asset in the employment marketplace. Northwestern is a founding member of, and the only private university in, the powerful Big Ten Conference. As a result, Northwestern students get to see some of the best college football, basketball, lacrosse, soccer and other sports. In 2017, the men's basketball team was the Cinderella story of the NCAA Tournament, receiving its first-ever bid and powering through to the second round. A newly expanded recreation center and a new state-of-the-art sailing center on Northwestern's private beach located on campus provide outstanding fitness and recreational facilities for all students. Northwestern is located in Evanston, a quintessential college town, with hundreds of restaurants, cafes and shops a few blocks from the campus. With Chicago next door and free campus shuttle buses going to Northwestern's downtown campus, students can easily take advantage of the music, theatre, museums, sports, and entertainment of a world-class city to enrich their undergraduate experience. • ","Founded in 1890, Illinois Institute of Technology is a private, technology-focused university, located in Chicago, that combines hands-on learning and research opportunities across the disciplines to prepare students to innovate and solve real-world problems. Illinois Tech is home to more than 7,800 students from 100 countries and 48 states enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in engineering, the sciences, architecture, human sciences, design, business, applied technology, and law. Illinois Tech's Mies Campus, located three miles from downtown Chicago and adjacent to Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, was named by Forbes as one of the country's most beautiful college campuses. Nineteen of its buildings, including the iconic S. R. Crown Hall, were designed by the legendary architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and architects Helmut Jahn and Rem Koolhaas, respectively, designed the contemporary State Street Village residence hall and The McCormick Tribune Campus Center; the latter incorporated elevated train tracks into its design. Our technology-focused curriculum, and specifically our signature Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program, is distinctive. Each semester-long IPRO course is a team-based project in which students from various majors work together to find solutions to real-world problems, such as developing a system for clean drinking water for the world's rural poor and developing a robotic standing wheelchair with a supinating arm. Innovative thinking is always taking place at Illinois Tech, especially in the Idea Shop. This 13,000-square-foot facility with rapid-prototyping equipment, 3-D printers, tools for app development, a laser cutter, and other cutting-edge equipment helps students turn ideas into reality. The university is constructing the Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship. The Kaplan Institute promises to have a major impact on undergraduate and graduate education by housing facilities and equipment for implementing novel, educational, and entrepreneurial strategies. Two $1 million-plus Nayar Prize awards were established to encourage breakthrough projects that will produce meaningful results with a societal impact. We are a provisional member of the NCAA Division III; varsity athletes compete on men's and women's teams in basketball, cross country, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and volleyball; men's baseball; and women's lacrosse. Illinois Tech offers intramural sports, special leadership programs, and more than 150 student organizations. The university is home to more than two-dozen research centers, including the Pritzker Institute of Biomedical Science and Engineering and the Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research. A signature research initiative is the campus-wide Illinois Tech Microgrid, which is designed to eliminate costly outages, minimize power disturbances, and curb greenhouse gas emissions; it is the nation's first functional microgrid. Undergraduates have the opportunity to work alongside faculty and researchers both on campus and at national laboratories. Innovations including the cell phone, magnetic recording, tall building architecture, and bar code technology are associated with Illinois Tech faculty and alumni. Our co-terminal degree programs allow students to earn both bachelor's and master's degrees in as few as five years. Top Illinois Tech applicants are invited to apply and interview for the Camras Scholars Program, a full-tuition scholarship, as well as the elite Duchossois Leadership Scholars Program. Every admitted student is automatically considered for a Heald Scholarship, up to $25,000 each annually. More than 98 percent of our students receive some type of financial aid. • ","Alice Lloyd journeyed from Boston to Kentucky in 1915, seeking a milder climate in which to recover from her failing health. In the Appalachian Mountains, she found that education became her lifes work. She truly believed that these hills and hollows held the leaders of tomorrow. Thus, Alice Lloyd College (ALC) was born. From its inception, Alice Lloyd College has placed a supreme value on educating the whole person. The name of the community, Pippa Passes, originated from a poem by Robert Browning called ""Pippas Song"". Pippa was a poor mill child who passed through the surrounding villages singing lyrics that ultimately changed the troubled lives of the people she encountered. This great work became a symbol for one of the purposes of Alice Lloyd College: the influence of unconscious good upon the world. It was Alice Lloyd and co-founder June Buchanan who saw the spirit of learning prevail both in and out of the classroom, forming the basis of character education. The ""Christian Forum"" required students to discuss ethical and moral issues, lifes purposes and goals, and Christian standards of conduct. These values were all significant in the total educational experience. Leadership was the desired result of character building.Today, this tradition remains a central focus of Alice Lloyd College. It is reflected in the leadership of its faculty and staff; Student Work Program; Caney Convocation Series; a special leadership course required of freshman students; and high standards of conduct, dress, and attitude.Students and parents alike are reminded of the Colleges philosophy during orientation sessions. It is expected that students who have engaged in the Alice Lloyd College experience will not only be intellectually equipped to continue their pursuit of learning, but will also be prepared as responsible citizens for a life of service and leadership. The idea of working for an education at ALC is as old as the school itself. Early students provided labor in exchange for tuition, room, and board. They were earning their own way on the path of becoming the leaders of tomorrow. Today, tuition is guaranteed to qualified students residing in 108 Central Appalachian counties in parts of five states. At Alice Lloyd College, every full-time student is required to work as a part of his or her overall educational experience. So committed is the College to the concept of student leadership, that successful completion of the work assignment is a graduation requirement. Alice Lloyd College provides a comprehensive leadership development program for its students. This training contains aspects of leadership philosophy, citizenship, and cultural development, which build upon a strong traditional liberal arts education. The institution attempts to infuse leadership education initiatives into all aspects of the educational experience including formal classroom instruction; activities that enable students to experience cultures outside of Appalachia; group learning activities; involvement in service to others; and activities that place them in leadership roles. To accomplish this ideal, the Academic, Student Services, and Work Program have become intimately connected in pursuing the mission of preparing leaders to serve Appalachia through a formal leadership development program. Through the years, Alice Lloyd College has impacted many lives, and in turn, those people have become leaders in their communities and the region serving in roles such as doctors, lawyers, ministers, political leaders, and educators. • ","Kentucky State University is a historically black college founded in 1886 as a school dedicated to the sole purpose of training teachers for the African American school-age population. More than 125 years later, KSU has expanded its mission to offer a liberal arts education that prepares a diverse student population to compete in a multifaceted, ever-changing global society. KSU is also a land-grant institution with programs to study and address agricultural and family life issues offered through the College of Agriculture, Food Science and Sustainable Systems. The university continually finds ways to help students fulfill their dreams of earning a degree, whether securing them financial aid to begin and continue their educational journey; preparing students for college-level study with refresher courses and pre-entry programs; offering online classes; or offering courses taught by accessible professors in small-class settings. The faculty, staff and students embody the most diverse mix in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. More than 40 percent of KSU students represent various ethnicities besides African American, including those from Central America, Africa and Asia. KSU provides something for just about everyone, from traditional liberal arts fare to business, science, agricultural studies, fine arts, education, criminal justice, social work, journalism and aquaculture. Its nursing program is widely known for preparing skilled and knowledgeable professionals. In addition, the university has begun the work of developing the Doctor of Nursing Practice program following the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools approval of KSUs move from a Level III to Level V classification. As a result, KSU can now offer up to three doctoral degree programs. In addition, the graduate program has grown to include masters degrees in aquaculture, business administration, computer science, public administration and environmental studies. It also has a masters program in special education thats offered completely online for busy teachers who are required to earn a graduate degree.KSUs relationship with corporate partners has grown stronger in recent years. KSU and Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Kentucky unveiled a unique scholarship program that matches Toyotas need for mechanical engineers with that of top incoming students at Kentucky State University in Frankfort. Beginning in fall 2014, up to five incoming students will receive full-ride scholarships the first three years at KSU on a pre-engineering curriculum, the last two at the University of Kentucky under the Toyota Engineering Scholarship Program. After five years, participants in the program will have an undergraduate degree from Kentucky State and an engineering degree from the University of Kentucky.Alltech and Kentucky State University also have formed a research alliance in which Alltech will provide support for graduate research in agriculture, food sciences and sustainable systems and support undergraduate internships. The purpose of the alliance is to help feed a growing, hungry population by developing sustainable farming techniques and modern farming models. The partnership extends KSUs increased focus on the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields.Further encouraging interest in scientific research as well as having fun while learning about ecosystems, KSU recently introduced Kentucky River Thorobred. Over the last decade, an average 85 percent of students studied abroad at least once during their four years at Centre. 97 percent of graduates in the most recent class are employed or pursuing advanced degrees within a year of graduation. For study abroad, nine permanent, semester-long residential programs are available in China, England, France, Japan, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Spain. Shorter three-week programs in January explore an ever-increasing number of countries. Over the last two years alone, destinations have included Argentina, Austria, Barbados, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, England, Ghana, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Panama, Rwanda, Spain, and Uganda. Related, a new semester-long study away program in Washington, D.C. has been so successful that a second program has been added in Chicago, and both include internship components. International study, undergraduate research, and internships are so integral to a Centre education that together they comprise the Centre Commitment, which guarantees study abroad, an internship or research opportunity, and graduation in four years, or Centre will provide up to one more year of tuition for free. An average 93 percent of Centre graduates participate in either an internship and/or an undergraduate research experience, opportunities that have helped students find their first post-graduation jobs or entrance into an ideal graduate program, law school, or medical school. Prestigious fellowships are also won on a regular basis. Rhodes Scholarship recipients, three Goldwater winners in the last five years, and the College's first Gates Cambridge and Boren scholars highlight Centre's stellar academic achievements. • ","As America's first research institution, Johns Hopkins University is well known for innovative advances in everything from technology to history. The university emphasizes the importance of exploration and discovery in the undergraduate experience. Learning occurs through hands-on experiences across all academic disciplines and within every subject imaginable. The lack of a core curriculum fosters academic freedom, which allows students to create their own interdisciplinary paths. They choose classes they are genuinely interested in, not just required to take, so there's a real sense of curiosity around learning that extends beyond the classroom setting. More than 60 percent of Hopkins students double major or minor, often creating unique combinations like electrical engineering and romance languages or biomedical engineering and business. This establishes a dynamic, engaging learning environment where students from various backgrounds bring different perspectives to class discussions. Collaborative learning is fundamental to the academic environment and many spaces on campus are designed to foster collaboration across disciplines. State-of-the-art facilities such as the Undergraduate Teaching Labs or JHU-MICA Film Center also give students access to the latest learning technology. Hopkins professors, another invaluable resource, are experts in their fields who make important contributions to their industries and academia at large. They're enthusiastic about teaching and often include undergraduates in their own ground-breaking research. Students get to know their professors and classmates the way they would at a small liberal arts college but have all of the opportunities of a major research institution with a global reach. As a part of this community, undergraduates not only work alongside experts who share their interests but also run with projects of their own design. In fact, the university remains a national leader of research funding and students in all programs within the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering gain practical experiences through research conducted both on and off campus. Several funded programs, such as the Provost's Undergraduate Research Awards and the Woodrow Wilson Undergraduate Research Fellowship, are dedicated to supporting undergraduate research. Students also encounter real-world experiences--like implementing marketing plans for local companies and heading startup businesses on campus--through the Center for Leadership Education and classes in business, marketing and communications, accounting and financial management, and entrepreneurship and management. Those interested in pursuing law or medicine choose any major/minor combination but follow a pre-law or pre-med advising track offered through the Office of Pre-Professional Advising. Though their paths may be varied throughout their four years on the Homewood campus, one thing is true of all Hopkins alumni: Graduates of Johns Hopkins are leaders who are distinctly prepared for their futures.","Private, Coed",1876,N/A,Semester,Urban,"$3.3 billion +","3400 N. • ","St. John's College has one purpose, one curriculum, and one distinctive identity. The college is centered on reading and discussing the great books of Western civilization across the spectrum of human thought. Alongside names such as Plato, Shakespeare, Euclid, Nietzsche, Einstein, and Austen, students wrestle with ideas in interdisciplinary classes of 20 students or fewer. Every class is a discussion led by one or two faculty members. Students call themselves Johnnies, and they are original and unconventional, love big questions and discussion, and are excited to join an intellectual community of thinkers. The shared curriculum unites Johnnies in a common endeavor, and it includes books focused on philosophy, literature, psychology, political science, religion, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, music, history, ancient Greek, French, and more, spread across four years of study. During junior and senior year, students also take elective classes where they focus on a book or an idea, and these culminate in a major piece of writing called the senior essay. Instead of choosing a major, all students graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts.Over 70% of Johnnies attend graduate school, and the college is among the top for the percentage of students receiving PhDs in the humanities and sciences. Well-known alumni include Francis Scott Key, author of the Star Spangled Banner, Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records, Lydia Polgreen, editor of the Huffington Post, and Ben Sasse, United States Senator from Nebraska. St. John's is one college on two campuses--one in Annapolis, Maryland, and the other in Santa Fe, New Mexico, both of which are ranked among the best college towns in America. Students are free to transfer between the two campuses. In Annapolis, Johnnies immerse themselves in a bustling colonial town along the Chesapeake Bay, just outside of Washington, D.C. • ","The essence of MIT is our appetite for problems--especially those big, intractable, complicated problems whose solutions make a permanent difference. While MIT is a research university committed to world-class inquiry in math, science, and engineering, MIT has equally distinguished programs in architecture, the humanities, management, and the social sciences. A diverse, supportive campus environment--with an incredible range of student groups and athletic and fitness opportunities--ensures that it's not all about the work. And in MIT's intensely creative atmosphere, the arts flourish in all their forms.MIT admits some of the most talented students in the world on a need-blind basis. The Institute is committed to meeting the financial need of each admitted undergraduate student through MIT scholarships; the average need-based scholarship was $38,871 per year in 2016. As a result, the MIT community is incredibly diverse, and organically collaborative, with students coming from many different backgrounds, across the country and around the world.Students are frequently encouraged to unite MIT's engineering excellence with public service. For example, the required senior capstone design course for mechanical engineering majors centers on making the world a better place through engineering. Recent years have focused on projects using alternative forms of energy, and machines that could be used for sustainable agriculture. Beyond academic coursework, MIT's D-Lab, Poverty Action Lab, and Public Service Center all support students and professors in the research and implementation of culturally sensitive and environmentally responsible technologies and programs that alleviate poverty and improve quality of life in low-income areas locally, nationally, and worldwide.MIT's preeminence in entrepreneurship is rooted in its founding. As one of the first land-grant colleges, the Institute was designed to deliver a practical education rather than to focus on the classical education that was provided by many private universities of that era. This emphasis on practice is infused into the entrepreneurship curriculum and programming, which emphasizes learning by doing. Over the course of the 2015-2016 academic year, more than 60 entrepreneurship courses were offered.Several MIT departments, labs, and centers foster entrepreneurship and innovation at MIT including the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund Program, and the MIT Innovation Initiative to name a few. MIT also has over 40 student clubs and initiatives involved in entrepreneurship or innovation, among them the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition, MIT Clean Energy Prize, and conferences such as Hacking Arts and Hacking Medicine. The MIT community brings its energy and creativity outside the classroom as well with 500+ student-run groups, 33 varsity sports, 18 intramural sports, 33 club sports, and more than 60 music, theater, visual arts, writing, and dance groups. It's just a short walk across the Charles River to Boston where students can enjoy the city's fabulous restaurants or take in Boston culture. Many programs around MIT allow students to get reduced-price tickets to various events, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the American Repertory Theater, and Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox games. Students get free admission daily to the Museum of Science, the Museum of Fine Arts, and all Harvard University and MIT museums.","Private, Coed",1861,N/A,4-1-4,Urban,"$13.2 billion","77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139","(617) 253-1000",95,100.0 54,"2018-05-03 06:47:21","Tufts University","Tufts University offers a number of student services, including nonremedial tutoring, women's center, placement service, health service, health insurance. • ","The world we live in is not easily segmented by academic disciplines. Problems in the world will not fit into neatly labeled categories and solutions will not come from a single point of view. Global challenges like the European debt crisis or climate change are intertwined across economic, political, technological, linguistic, and cultural lines. Tufts educational philosophy recognizes this and adapts to it with requirements that push students towards interdisciplinary thought. Students are asked to understand global culture and to see the importance of context beyond any singular discipline. Tufts believes in using intellect to impact the world and in understanding how the world impacts our intellectual pursuits. It is not uncommon to find a computer scientist partnering with faculty in mechanical engineering and drama to program robots that can tell a good story or a religion major studying to become a doctor who understands of how faith, ethics, and health are linked. Tufts cross-disciplinary strength is possible because of its combination of intimate size and world-class research. Tufts mission to impact the world benefits from Boston, the premier higher education destination in the United States as well as the constellation of schools that defines the university: the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Engineering, the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Medicine.","Private, Coed",1852,N/A,Semester,Suburban,"$1.6 billion","Bendetson Hall, Medford, MA 02155","(617) 627-5195",72,100.0 55,"2018-05-03 06:47:32","Boston College","Boston College offers a number of student services, including nonremedial tutoring, women's center, placement service, health service, health insurance. It seeks both to advance its place among the nations finest universities and to bring to the company of its distinguished peers and to contemporary society the richnessof the Catholic intellectual ideal of a mutually illuminating relationship between religious faith and free intellectual inquiry.Boston College draws inspiration for its academic and societal mission from its distinctive religious tradition. As a Catholic and Jesuit university, it is rooted in a world view that encounters God in all creation and through all human activity, especially in the search for truth in every discipline, in the desire to learn, and in the call to live justly together. In this spirit, the University regards the contribution of different religious traditions and value systems as essential to the fullness of its intellectual life and to the continuous development of its distinctive intellectual heritage.Boston College pursues this distinctive mission by serving society in three ways: by fostering the rigorous intellectual development and the religious, ethical, and personal formation of its undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in order to prepare them for citizenship, service, and leadership in a global society; by producing nationally and internationally significant research that advances insight and understanding, thereby bothenriching culture and addressing important societal needs; and by committing itself to advance the dialogue between religious belief and other formative elements of culture through the intellectual inquiry, teaching and learning, and the community life that form the University.Boston College fulfills this mission with a deep concern for all members of its community, with a recognition of the importantcontribution a diverse student body, faculty, and staff can offer, with a firm commitment to academic freedom, and with adetermination to exercise careful stewardship of its resources in pursuit of its academic goals.","Private, Coed",1863,"Roman Catholic",Semester,Suburban,"$2.1 billion +","140 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467","(617) 552-3100",70,100.0 56,"2018-05-03 06:47:42","Brandeis University","Brandeis University offers a number of student services, including nonremedial tutoring, women's center, placement service, health service, health insurance. • ","Brandeis was founded in 1948, at a time when discrimination and quotas still restricted access to higher education. Its impetus was a powerful idea: the only non-sectarian institution founded by the Jewish community, Brandeis would be open to all, embracing the pluralism of American society, and with a commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Powerfully focused on academic rigor and intensity, it almost immediately equaled and exceeded older institutions, prizing intellectual inquiry and relishing discussion and debate. In its thirteenth year, Brandeis earned Phi Beta Kappa recognition, the youngest institution ever to do so. Brandeis offers a distinctive model: the personal attention and flexibility of a liberal arts college with the depth and opportunity of a research institution. Brandeis enrolls 3,600 undergraduate students, drawn from all parts of the nation and the world and from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. A faculty of tremendous scholarly distinction is equally committed to education - every faculty member teaches. A small student-faculty ratio preserves close connections between teachers and students. You will be educated in the classroom, but also in the field, the studio, and the laboratory, both locally and globally, and we integrate these various modes of experiential education and discovery with classroom learning. Brandeis is academically intense: most undergraduates complete two majors or combine a major with one or more minors, and a number pursue one of our 13 combined Bachelor-Masters degree programs. Students average an amazing three internships before graduation.Brandeis students also sustain a vibrant co-curricular life. From two student newspapers, a radio and television station, 19 varsity sports, and over 200 other clubs and organizations, you will have unrivaled opportunity for campus leadership. Student activities, from our famous Chums coffee house to over 350 performing arts events each year, combine with school-wide traditions to keep campus life busy every evening and weekend. Students also enjoy our location in the Boston area, with a commuter rail stop right on campus and shuttle services offering easy access to Americas greatest college town. • ","Founded in 1865 in Worcester, Mass., Worcester Polytechnic Institute is one of the nation's first engineering and technology universities. Today WPI is a midsize research university centered on engineering, science, technology, and mathematics, with strong academic programs in the arts and humanities, the social sciences, and business. Its 14 academic departments offer more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, leading to the BA, BS, MS, MEng, MBA, and PhD. WPI places a high premium on excellence in undergraduate education, with rich student-faculty interaction and a distinct, rigorous project-based curriculum. In addition to filling a humanities and arts requirement, each WPI undergraduate must complete at least two significant projects, one in the major field of study and one that addresses an open-ended problem at the intersection of science, technology, and society. Through these projects, students demonstrate their proficiency as they apply their classroom knowledge to real-world problems. They gain an appreciation for how their work has an impact on a local, national, and even global level. At WPI, first-year students can participate in the Great Problems Seminar, a two-course introduction to university-level research and projects focused on themes of current global importance. The university's innovative Global Projects Program provides students the opportunity to make a difference in communities and organizations around the world in one of the more than 40 project centers throughout the Americas, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. Students benefit from WPI's deep experience in off-campus opportunity. WPI established its first off-campus residential project center in 1974 in Washington, D.C., and its first international center in 1987 in London. About two-thirds of each graduating WPI class has traveled off campus to complete projects, half going overseas. Working independently or collaboratively with faculty or industry partners, graduate students are challenged to engage in research that matters, offering contributions that lead to breakthroughs in problems facing society. Students are inspired to consider the big picture and to think like entrepreneurs. They look for solutions that aren't always obvious but will have the greatest technical and social impact. Faculty members work collaboratively with students on interdisciplinary research that seeks solutions to important and socially relevant problems in fields as diverse as life sciences, bioengineering, energy, information security, materials processing, and robotics. With thriving music and theatre departments, WPI students have opportunities to explore their creative sides, too. Quirky traditions, like the annual Pi Day festivities or celebrating the birthday of its mascot, Gompei the goat, foster a sense of community. Notable WPI academic and research centers include the Metal Processing Institute, the largest industry-university alliance in North America. WPI is making a significant investment in life sciences-related research and in the economic development of its home city by jointly developing Gateway Park, an 11-acre mixed-use, life sciences-based campus adjacent to downtown Worcester. The first building at the site, the 125,000-sq.-ft. Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center, houses the university's graduate research programs in these disciplines. A second building houses, among other tenants, its Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center; Fire Protection Engineering Laboratory, which supports one of the world's only graduate programs in fire protection engineering; and Foisie Business School. WPI's 35,000+ alumni are located throughout the U.S. and in more than 100 countries. WPI alumni have been responsible for many world-changing innovations, among them the liquid-fueled rocket; stainless steel; the airbag safety system; and the Area Rule, which made supersonic flight practical.","Private, Coed",1865,N/A,Quarter,City,"$466.3 million +","100 Institute Road, Worcester, MA 01609","(508) 831-5000",60,100.0 60,"2018-05-03 06:48:22","University of Massachusetts--Amherst","University of Massachusetts--Amherst offers a number of student services, including nonremedial tutoring, women's center, placement service, day care, health service, health insurance. • ","Calvin College is a top-ranked liberal arts college that prepares students to be Christ's agents of renewal in the world. And with 99 percent of our grads either employed or in grad school within nine months of graduation, our students are making an impact in their fields right out of the gate. Through rigorous academic study and intentional Christian community, students learn to think deeply, act justly and live wholeheartedly. As a community we dare to pursue excellence in everything we take on. We don't settle for good enough. Not in a lab, not in an art show, not even in a jump shot. It's a bold college path, but thousands of our students will tell you it's a path worth traveling, no matter what area sparks your passion. Because here we believe that no one major has the upper hand in uncovering truths about God and the world--all are invited into the discovery. Trace the college back to its roots as a ministry school in 1876, and you'll find that even our inaugural class participated in both literary and theological training. Calvin had a liberal arts bent--more than that, a desire to explore all things--from the start. With a multi-faceted core curriculum, Calvin offers students the freedom to chase the wonderings of philosophy, the intricacies of languages foreign and familiar, and the beauty of the world at a molecular level. And they're exploring these ideas both on campus and through more than 40 off-campus programs around the world. Calvin is proud to offer 100+ majors, minors and programs, with advanced courses that have often been compared to graduate-level experiences for their remarkable depth of learning. The meaningful work in a student's area of interest doesn't begin post-college, but right here during the Calvin experience--through courageous research, fast-paced internships and the chance to present and publish alongside world-class faculty. That cultivation of curiosity and innovation has propelled us into the top 5 percent of all undergraduate institutions whose grads go on to earn PhDs. In the fall of 2017, Calvin is introducing a new program called Calvin LifeWork to incoming students. It is a four-year voluntary life-readiness program featuring learning tracks in vocation, career readiness, financial literacy and life skills, and leadership development. Calvin LifeWork takes the fear and uncertainty out of a student's first steps into the post-grad world. Plus, students earn an automatic $3,000 scholarship after completing three years of the program--giving them a financial leg up as they begin their senior year.SportsAt Calvin, we strike a balance between working hard and playing hard. That's evident in our 21 varsity teams, who achieve success on the court and in the classroom, winning 11 NCAA Division III national titles and 118 Academic All-American awards. Our athletic facilities also continue to garner national attention. In fall 2017, Calvin hosts the women's volleyball national championship--the fourth NCAA Division III national championship the college has hosted in the past two years. Plus, students enjoy more than 60 intramural, club sports and group fitness options. And nobody beats the passionate loyalty of Knights fans.","Private, Coed",1876,"Christian Reformed Church",4-1-4,Suburban,"$129.1 million","3201 Burton Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546","(616) 526-6000",100,100.0 63,"2018-05-03 06:48:40","University of Detroit Mercy","University of Detroit Mercy offers a number of student services, including nonremedial tutoring, placement service, health service, health insurance. • ","Visionary leadership has earned Adrian College the nickname ""the little college that could.""Since 2005, Adrian College has undertaken two campaigns, Renaissance I & II, which together created comprehensive improvements to ensure flourishing academic, athletic, and student life environments. In less than 20 years the College has completed the renovation of eight of its nine academic buildings, including the $13 million renovation and expansion of Peelle and Jones Halls, home to our science and business programs. Renovation and expansion of Mahan Hall, our fine arts building, is currently in the design stage. Opening this spring 2017 is the new medical clinic, a campus-community collaboration that will provide health care to Adrian College students and community members, while also serving as a clinical training site for our degree program in athletic training. Athletic improvements include a new, multi-sport performance stadium and Arrington Arena, an ice skating facility that is home to the College's six hockey teams, synchronized skating and figure skating teams. Lake-front property has just been acquired for our newest sport, crew, which launches in 2017-18 and brings the College'scompetitive sports to 41.Adrian College was founded in 1859 by Asa Mahan, a pastor & scholar active in the antislavery and women's rights movements. Mahan never separated the head, heart, and hands, and neither do we. In 2007, the College established the Ribbons of Excellence, standards to which the College aspires for students and the institution. The first of the Ribbons is ""Caring for humanity and the world: making socially responsible decisions; providing service to local and global communities; interacting positively with persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds."" The College lives out this value through its commitment to service learning across the curriculum; study abroad opportunities through our Institute for Study Abroad; a vibrant Campus Ministry that spawned the student-led, anti-human trafficking organization Not For Sale; and the roughly 20,000 hours of community service students perform each year. Ribbons of Excellence Day, an annual event, celebrates mentored undergraduate research with students presenting or performing the culmination of their projects, which are completed outside of their regular classwork. AdrianCollege also offers 4+1 master's degrees in accountancy, athletic training, education, industrial chemistry, criminal justice and sport management and leadership. In 2014, Adrian College rolled out Adrian Plus, a loan repayment assistance program available to all incoming students. Olivet consists of first-generation college students, students from urban and rural environments, and students of all socioeconomic backgrounds, with more than 50 percent qualifying for Federal Pell Grants. This multi-year plan involved input from all of the colleges constituents - including students, faculty, staff, alumni, administrators and trustees - to identify and implement key objectives in charting the course for the future of Olivet. In addition, the college places a strong focus on the residential experience provided to its students, recognizing the education students receive outside of the classroom is equally important as the education they receive in the classroom. • ","Carleton College is a private liberal arts college located in the historic river town of Northfield, Minn., 40 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Best known for its academic excellence and welcoming campus community, Carleton offers 32 majors and 16 concentrations in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. Carleton's student body is notoriously difficult to categorize, but one word to describe it might be curious. ""Carls"" are an intellectually insatiable group that approach learning with enthusiasm, energy, and a uniquely Carleton brand of playfulness. Broad-ranging interests are common, and friendships seem to cross all traditional boundaries. As students and alumni will tell you, there's just something different about Carleton. Maybe it's the size (about 2,000 students). Or maybe it's the round-the-clock proximity of so many creative minds (95 percent of students live on campus). Whatever the reason, Carleton is a place where students are likelier to cooperate than compete. The College supports more than 200 student organizations, and features numerous a capella vocal groups, comedy troupes, dance groups and drama groups. The College also sponsors 20 varsity sports, plus a vast club and intramural sports scene with nearly 90 percent of the student body participating at a wide spectrum of ability levels. Carleton's faculty members are highly respected scholars, researchers, and practitioners in their fields. But, above all, their first priority is teaching. A student-faculty ratio of 9 to 1 ensures that Carleton students have plenty of opportunity for interaction with their professors. Carleton students come from 50 states and 42 other countries. Multicultural students account for 26 percent of Carleton's 2,000 students. More than half of all students receive need-based financial aid and about 80 percent hold jobs on campus. Carleton ranks second among all baccalaureate-level colleges in the number of students awarded prestigious National Science Foundation Fellowships for graduate study. The College has had 18 Rhodes Scholars, and 112 Fulbrights have been awarded to students and alumni since 2000. The Center for Community and Civic Engagement encourages students to combine traditional volunteer service with scholarly engagement in the community. Opportunities abound for internships, externships, summer research with faculty, and career exploration with alumni. More than 70 percent of the student population participates in off-campus studies. Carleton brings nationally and internationally distinguished guests to campus as visiting faculty and for weekly convocations, which are free and open to the public. Guests have included journalist and presidential adviser David Gergen; co-founder of Politico, Carleton alumnus and trustee John Harris; radio host and humorist Garrison Keillor; and Safe Horizon CEO Ariel Zwang. Carleton features the 880-acre Cowling Arboretum (known as ""the Arb"") that provides a network of walking, running, and cross-country skiing trails along the Cannon River and east of the campus. The Arb was named among the top 10 places to run in the country by Runners World magazine. The Gould Library is one of the largest undergraduate libraries in the United States. In 2011, the Weitz Center opened as a working lab for creativity, where the arts intersect with all disciplines; a new music wing will be ready for use in fall 2017. Also in fall 2017, Carleton will break ground on a new integrated science complex. Two environmentally friendly LEED Gold certified residence halls were first occupied in 2008. An 80,000 square-foot Recreation Center opened in 2000, giving Carls a state-of-the-art athletics and recreation facility. Carleton graduates can be found in the forefront of nearly every professional field, and within ten years of graduating, over 80 percent of alumni go on to top graduate and professional schools across the country. • ","The College of St. Scholastica is a Catholic Benedictine college best known for health care education with a liberal arts foundation. St. Scholastica has proven its leadership during its 105-year history. In the mid-1930s it began the nation's first program in medical records. Today the field is called Health Informatics and Information Management, and the College is still a national leader at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. St. Scholastica's nursing program is one of the largest and most respected in Minnesota. The College's new Health Science Center features state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories for a new Physician Assistant program that will admit its first students in fall 2017, as well as expanded Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy departments. The facility also is home to the maurices Community Clinic, an interdisciplinary academic program that integrates classroom teaching and experiential teaching. This offers students supervised ""hands-on"" experience working with adults and children who are under-insured or uninsured. St. Scholastica's mission is to provide intellectual and moral preparation for responsible living and meaningful work. The independent college is guided by Catholic Benedictine values of respect, hospitality, community, stewardship, and the love of learning. Beginning early in the 20th century, the Benedictine Sisters advanced gender equity by providing educational opportunities to young women well before women had the right to vote. Through higher education, the Benedictines strove to provide quality healthcare and meet the workforce needs of immigrant populations. They also excelled in supporting first-generation college students who might otherwise not have had access to a higher education. This approach continues today through the College's commitment to inclusive excellence, which builds and nurtures a learning and working community in which all members - especially those who feel marginalized by the larger society - feel deeply welcome, valued and supported for who they are. The College also serves as a regional center for culture, leading public interfaith discussions of ethics and peace and justice issues in the tradition of its Catholic Benedictine intellectual heritage. Service to the community and region is an integral part of the St. Scholastica experience. The College sponsors the Twin Ports Thanksgiving Buffet, which for over 25 years has provided companionship and a free meal for more than 5,000 people per year. Students lead a community service day each year that helps non-profit and social welfare organizations throughout the Twin Ports area. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks The College of St. Scholastica among the best colleges and universities in the Upper Midwest for academic excellence. The College is nationally known for being supportive of military veterans, as cited by U.S. News & World Report, Victory Media and Military Advanced Education magazine. Money Magazine has ranked St. Scholastica in the top third of all four-year colleges in the country based on graduation rates, educational quality, affordability and alumni earnings. Forbes magazine named St. Scholastica to its Top Colleges list, based on outcomes metrics including student satisfaction, post-graduate success, and academic success. Along with providing a foundation for responsible living, St. Scholastica also offers real-world impact for its graduates. Ninety-seven percent of St. Scholastica undergraduate students are employed or enrolled in a graduate program within six months of graduation. St. Scholastica offers a distinctive four-year pledge: that new students who enter the College as first-year undergraduate students and follow simple guidelines will graduate in four years, or subsequent tuition is free. Millsaps also understands the need for practical support of its students in their preparation for life-long vocations. The new Institute for Civic and Professional Engagement will help ensure that Millsaps students graduate with the best classical education and with career goals, civic commitments, and professional skills that equip them for lives of meaning, good citizenship, and leadership. • ","Founded in 1769, Dartmouth is one of the oldest and most respected institutions of higher learning in the United States. A member of the Ivy League, Dartmouth has a long history of dedication to the highest educational ideals. With its world-class faculty and facilities, and nationally and internationally renowned graduate programs in engineering, business, medicine, and the arts & sciences, the school has resources that very few universities can match. In addition, by maintaining a highly flexible quarter-system calendar, and allowing only faculty to teach its undergraduate courses, Dartmouth assures that students have complete and timely access to all that the institution has to offer. Faculty: The professors at Dartmouth are among the leaders in their fields, yet they remain fully committed to teaching. Even the most senior professors teach first-year courses. Recipients of more than $191 million in annual research grants and consistently ranked among the most respected teachers in American higher education, Dartmouth professors are true exemplars of the phrase teacher-scholar. Through course-related discussions, research collaborations, and casual conversation, students get to know their professors as instructors, mentors, colleagues, and friends. Undergraduate Students: Dartmouth students come from all 50 states and over 80 countries. The population is divided almost evenly between men and women. Nearly half of the students identify themselves as students of color (39%) or international students (8%). More than half (52%) of the students receive some form of need-based financial assistance to cover the cost of their education. Dartmouth disburses more than $92 million in need-based aid each year. Prior to Dartmouth, 54% of the students attended public secondary schools and 42% attended private or parochial schools. Once on campus, they take full advantage of the academic resources Dartmouth has to offer, and get involved in the more than 300 officially recognized organizations.","Private, Coed",1769,N/A,Quarter,Rural,"$4.5 billion","6016 McNutt Hall, Hanover, NH 03755","(603) 646-1110",90,100.0
