Hook & Flask Still Works opened recently in downtown Carlisle and is only 1 of 2 distilleries in Cumberland County! Our distillery/restaurant features a large garage door that opens to the sidewalk/street, and you will enter into a Firehouse themed restaurant and distillery which features a red rectangle on the floor which marks where the fire truck would be parked. An antique ladder forms the light fixture above the long center table. An old hose forms a rail along the wall, and an American flag made from old hoses hangs behind the bar. We offer a classy, historical fire theme and an unusual design of an open kitchen behind the bar! Hook & Flask also serves wine and craft brews from local brewers including Burds Nest Brewing Company, Desperate Times and Molly Pitcher Brewing Co. Our massive stills are visible through a glass window, which also gives patrons a glimpse of the 19-foot tall vodka column that seems to disappear into the ceiling. The Beef House, founded in 1964, offers a variety of appetizers, salad, sandwiches, entrees and soups. It serves chicken tenders, french-fried zucchinis, pasta, applesauce, grilled portabella mushrooms and Caesar salad. The restaurant s seafood menu includes filet of Alaskan cod, grilled halibut, gulf shrimp, sea scallops, tilapias, Atlantic salmon and crab legs. It offers a special menu for children that include hamburgers, chopped sirloin, chicken legs, Alaska cod filet, rib eye steak and french-fried shrimp. Additionally, the restaurant serves a variety of wines and other beverages, including champagne, sparkling wines, martini, chardonnay, lager and Tia Maria. The Beef House is located in Covington, Ind.

I have been going to the Beef House since the early 70's. My parents even used to go to the original Beef House. While I like their steaks and rolls, I have consistently seen a major ATTITUDE PROBLEM with the owner and the management. Here are my observations: 1. Unlike almost every restaurant on the planet, the Beef House staff does not ask you how you liked your meal when you are paying and leaving the restaurant. 2. The cashier help is frequently rude and dismissive instead of warm and friendly. 3. The owner usually wears an unsmiling scowl on his face. 4. There are NEVER tomatoes on the salad bar for the lunch specials. This makes them appear 'cheap'. The rolls are excellent, many of the waitresses are great, the building is lovely .... but .... I just can't overlook arrogance. They don't hand out customer surveys, they don't respect where you want to sit, and you are frequently made to feel 'unspecial' and 'just another body' at the Beef House.

Welcome to Rogue Valley Country Club Since Rogue Valley Country Club was founded in the summer of 1911, it has served its members and their guests as the premier, and only, private club in the Rogue Valley allowing them to enjoy a variety of sporting and social activities. It was brought here by a group of wealthy young businessmen who had played the game in the East. The young men, and orchardists from around the Rogue Valley, organized the Medford Golf and Country Club. An elaborate grand opening was scheduled for June 30, 1911, at a property on Hillcrest Road just east of Medford. The country club included tennis courts, a skeet range and nine holes of golf. The clubhouse featured a veranda garden." From these heights, the valley sweeps away," wrote the Mail Tribune newspaper." Dotted with homes, orchards, fields of grain, it is beautiful!" Yet, despite many activities the Medford Golf and Country Club struggled financially and closed a short time later. The country club moved to a smaller site a few miles away in August of 1912.This new property was donated by Conro Fiero, a wealthy apple orchardist, and his wife Grace, a Broadway actress, to be used as a golf course. This new course had nine holes and held many inter-city golf and tennis matches. Once again, the Medford Golf and Country Club had to close its doors due to financial difficulty in 1917. Ainu, the Rogue Valley Golf Association was formed and it bought 70 acres of land where the original Medford Golf and Country Club was located on Hillcrest Road. H. Chandler E

Jennifer Haffner fell in love with baking the moment she was tall enough to see over the kitchen countertop.Growing up in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Haffner spent hours in the kitchen with her family. It was here that she began piecing together culinary creations, some of which have evolved over 30 years like her signature Kitchen Sink cookie. As a teenager, she chose cooking as her profession and dreamed of one day owning her own restaurant.Haffner moved to Fairhope in 1998 after she and her husband bought a piece of property in the area. As a stay-at-home mom, she was limited in her abilities to start her own business. However, she stayed heavily involved with the restaurant industry.She worked at Jesse's restaurant in Magnolia springs, starting as a hostess before becoming a bartender and eventually the head pastry chef. After Jesse's, she spent about three months frying chicken at the deli located inside of Greers Market in Fairhope. I really do my research when it comes to hair. It's so important to get a good cut in the professional world, You have to look your best and put on your best face! After a week of reading reviews from different salons that covered an area fromNew Orleans to Baton Rouge, I found this place. I looked though the site and made an appointment. I showed up at this cute little hole in the wall salon. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and not pretentious like some of them can be. They were running behind but did not mind , after getting into a smock and getting a glass of wine, Brian came over and talked to me about my hair. I was a little worried. Every time I go to a new place its a 2-3 hour appointment with the hair stylist trying to figure out how to work with my hair. Most the time it ends up in either disaster or a mediocre cut that grows out horribly. Brian was friendly and understanding. I had brought in pictures of the style I was going for. He was able to see and understand what I was looking for and how it would work with my hair and face shape.With in an hour, he gave me the best cut I've had since I left San Diego 7 years ago! I was so thrilled with the cut that not only do I plan on being a regular, but I feel comfortable enough to schedule some color appointments. (I ALWAYS do my own color!!!) Thank you BRIAN!!
