Valhalla's greens, tees and fairways are a combination of Pencross and Penway bent grass strains. Overall, there are 42 sand bunkers strategically positioned throughout the course. Valhalla Golf Club's slick greens feature distinct tiers and sections that provide a variety of challenging hole locations. The primary rough is Kentucky bluegrass with fescue making up the secondary rough. The incoming nine holes were carved out of higher, tree-covered terrain with a shallow creek that would come into play on four holes. The 17,500-square foot clubhouse, featuring a 45-foot Rolex clock tower and a veranda overlooking the 18th green, opened in February 1996. The clubhouse, in the traditional Louisville design, blends both Midwestern and Southern accents. The Valhalla Golf Club course record of 6-under-par was shared by Nicklaus and Larry Mize - each posting their impressive round weeks after winning respective Masters championships in 1986 and 1987. This was beaten in the 2000 PGA Championship when Jose Maria Olazabal shot a 63. |

Given free reign to design CordeValle's championship golf course, renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. created what many consider one of his greatest masterpieces. CordeValle's 18-hole, 7,169 yard par 72 championship golf course takes on a different theme each time it is played. Situated on 270 acres of gently rolling terrain in a pastoral California valley, the course utilizes the natural elevation changes of its peaks and canyons, enhanced by broad meadows, streams, striking sycamore and mature California oak trees. The land surrounding the course is part of a private preserve with over 1,000 protected acres, unencumbered by residential or commercial development. The course features multiple tees and approach angles for varying degrees of difficulty. Strategically placed bunkers with challenging bays, fingers and folds establish the character of the course. An elevation change of approximately 150 feet over the entire 18 holes makes it walkable for the golf purist and demands different strategies and club selections throughout. The CordeValle management team is committed to providing year-round, tournament-level golf course conditioning and the highest level of personal service and club amenities to its members and guests. Golf facilities include a comprehensive learning center directed by PGA professionals, advanced practice grounds including a multiple-tee, all grass range with target greens and a special short game area for chipping, pitching, putting and sand play. In addition, practice putting greens are located near the first and tenth tees. "The location had so many great possibilities that it was difficult to decide which to choose," commented Jones. He spent about seven months abroad, playing and studying courses and sketching the features that struck him most favorably. One mystery which still surrounds Wilson's trip to Britain is the origin of the wicker flagsticks, and it is still part of Merion's mystique. The layout that Wilson fashioned at Merion was masterly. He fit the holes onto the land as compactly as a jigsaw puzzle. As a result, players only had to step a few yards from each green to the next tee. The trip to the Old Country had certainly paid off. Wilson admitted that his concepts sprang from the holes he'd seen in Scotland and England. The 3rd hole was inspired by North Berwick's 15th hole (the Redan) and the 17th, with its swale fronting the green, is reminiscent of the famed Valley of Sin at St. Andrew's 18th hole. On September 12, 1912, the old course at Haverford was closed, and on the 14th, the new course and the clubhouse were opened to members. A report of the opening said the course was "among experts, considered the finest inland links in the country". This was an assessment that has been echoed down through the years. The current condition of the course is constantly compared to early photographs and every effort is made to insure that people playing the course today compete on the same course as did the champions of old. For that reason, also, the course if maintained as though to hold championships daily. There is always an intermediate rough. The Dunes Grass and Scotch Broom are other Merion traditions, as is the way that bunkers are maintained with peninsulas, island of grass and "eyebrows." |

The Ocean Course will become only the fourth course to have hosted each of the PGA of America's major championships. Probably no other golf course in the world outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland is affected as much by the wind. From one round to the next, a player can experience up to an 8-club difference on holes depending upon the direction and strength of the wind. Built in 1991 by Pete Dye, there are no prevailing winds on the course. Dye took this into account when designing the course. In fact, he designed two courses into one – one for an easterly wind and one for a westerly wind. Located on the eastern-most end of Kiawah Island, The Ocean Course has more seaside holes than any other course in the Northern Hemisphere – 10 right along the Atlantic with the other 8 running parallel to those. Although it was originally designed to sit behind the dunes, Dye's wife, Alice, suggested raising the entire course to allow players unobstructed views of Kiawah’s beautiful Atlantic coastline from every hole. This improved view, however, made the course substantially more demanding as it also exposed it to the area’s brisk and unpredictable sea breezes. |

Long a west coast powerhouse in amateur sports, the Club is the home of many local, regional, national and international champions. | By 1922, the Club had acquired enough acreage to replace the original golf course with two 18-hole golf courses. Willie Watson and course superintendent Sam Whiting designed the first Lake and Ocean courses in 1924. Unfortunately, storm damage led Sam Whiting to redesign both courses again in 1927. The Lake Course remains true to the 1927 design with minimal renovations in the intervening years. Prior to the 1955 U.S. Open, the Club brought the USGA’s official course architect, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., to toughen the Lake Course for competition. Most recently, the Club completed the Lake Course Greens Replacement project. Conversion from poa annua to bent-grass greens was the primary objective of the project, but the crew also rebuilt and renovated greens. The new 8th hole, the first routing change to the course since 1927, was sculpted into the surrounding hillside with views of the clubhouse. It will play as a 200-yard par 3. Additional alterations are still under construction for the 2012 U.S. Open Championship. |

In 1903, several of Toledo’s leading citizens financed the original land purchase, constructed the first clubhouse, and built a nine-hole golf course which was eventually expanded to eighteen holes. In the autumn of 1916, the Inverness Board of Directors hired famed Scottish golf course architect Donald Ross, to design a championship course in Toledo by the end of the year. His blueprints were on display in the Club’s grillroom and in two years course construction was completed. Following the 1920 U.S. Open, the greens on 2, 13, 16 and 17 were raised and a number of holes were lengthened. In 1978, George and Tom Fazio further refined the architecture, creating new holes at 3, 5, 6, and 8. Donald Ross’ signature is on close to four hundred courses in the United States, Canada, and Cuba. Though he designed hundreds of courses, he discussed only seven of them in his book, Golf Has Never Failed Me. Inverness is one of them. In the fall of 1999, architect Arthur Hills again enhanced Inverness, lengthening the course to its current 7,255 yards. From its original construction in 1903 through its periodic refurbishing, Inverness has evolved and matured, becoming even more scenic, subtle, balanced, and demanding. National tournaments held at Inverness Club through the years have helped write golf’s history book. One of America's foremost golf architects, Ross pledged to create a course that could not be equaled. That course opened at Aronimink Golf Club in 1928. Since that time, the Aronimink team has continued to uphold the distinction of Ross's design and maintain the integrity of the course's original challenge. At first, the picturesque evergreens and hardwoods that line the fairways may be deceiving - but Aronimink's course is far from an easy stroll in the woods. Its championship design requires an attractive balance of long-and short-hole skills as well as strategic play. Over 100 bunkers, slopes, valleys, and doglegs present a definite challenge for all playing abilities. Ross designed the Aronimink course to put even the best golfers to the "supreme test" - that of exceptional long-iron play. The Ross challenge is evident from the very first hole, which presents a sharp drop right off the tee, followed by a 250-yard uphill climb to the green. The course also requires endurance - especially on the 16th hole with its 545-yard,par-5 challenge. And, to assure players are at the top of their games, Aronimink is balanced with well-crafted shorter holes that make strategic excellence and accuracy essential. However, in classic Ross style, the ingenuity of the course's design opens it up to all levels of abilities-presenting a rewarding challenge to the most skilled professionals, while giving average golfers a course on which they can play with confidence. |

It is remarkably different in character and shot making requirements than our other courses. Pacific Dunes doesn't feel like it was built as much as it was discovered. | The game of golf was born on rugged, wind-swept land like this. Where every hole, every hazard, and every shot is defined by nature's infinite presence. True links courses are rare, with only about 160 on the entire planet. At Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, you'll find five distinctly different courses built on a beautiful stretch of sand dunes perched 100 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes feature a dozen holes that run along the bluff overlooking 23 miles of sweeping, undisturbed shoreline. Bandon Trails begins on a massive dune, works its way through open meadows and upland forest, and then finishes in the dunes. Old Macdonald moves through dune to ocean revealing breathtaking views throughout. The courses here weren't built as much as discovered. Among the coastal forest, dunes and gorse, lie golf holes that yield fresh rewards each time they're played. Accommodations provide a refuge of relative seclusion. Chrome Lake Rooms offer double king and two-room lofts. Lily Pond Rooms offer two queen beds, while the Lodge offers single rooms and three suites, many with dramatic golf course views. Our Grove Cottages are designed specifically for a foursome of golfers, with four private rooms and a shared parlor and patio. The Inn at Bandon Dunes provides single king and double queen beds just a short walk from the Lodge. Located on the property are full service restaurants, lounges, golf shops, hot tub, sauna, exercise room and locker rooms. A 32-acre practice center allows you to hone every shot required at Bandon Dunes and features a one-acre practice putting green and bunker practice area. Bandon Dunes is 5 minutes from the seaside town of Bandon, just off Highway 101, and just 25 minutes from the Southwest Regional Airport in North Bend, served daily by flights from Portland and San Francisco. |

Greens, tees and fairways are an emerald carpet of Bentgrass, the "Cadillac of Grasses." Roughs are a blend of four bluegrass varieties, and all surrounding areas are maintained in their natural states. Victoria National was the first major course to install a SubAir in-ground vault system, providing all 18 greens and both practice greens with temperature and moisture control and CO2 evacuation. The irrigation system features integrated fertilization as well as a state-of-the-art Bio-Jet system that grows and injects microbes specially developed to control turf diseases. The entire agronomical operation at Victoria National is controlled by computers. A sensor in the ground measures soil temperature and a heat pump kicks in to blow warm air under the greens when the air temperature drops below 40 degrees. If the greens get too hot, the system cools them down and when Mother Nature drops rain, vacuum pumps suck out all the moisture down to the roots. The result is unprecedented quality, consistency and control-from the first tee to your final putt. |

The club was officially incorporated on December 31, and the original golf course was opened on July 29, 1911. It was a nine-hole course, and was designed by Willie Watson, a well-known course architect of the time. George Sargent, who won the 1909 U.S. Open and was later president of the PGA of America, was the head professional for a few years.[1] In 1919, the club decided to redesign the course. The new 18-hole course, which is largely the same today, was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1921. Robert Trent Jones made some alterations in 1963, and Geoffrey Cornish renovated it in 1986. The course is consistently ranked Golf Digest's list of the 100 best courses in the United States (#44 in 2005, #62 in 2007), and #1 in Minnesota. The course is about 6,900 yards long, and is a par 72. The first major tournament held at Interlachen was the Western Open in 1914. In July 1930, the club was the site of the U.S. Open championship. Bobby Jones had already won the British Amateur and the British Open that year, and continued his run by winning at Interlachen by two strokes over Macdonald Smith. Jones completed his unprecedented Grand Slam by winning the U.S. Amateur later in the year. The club was scheduled to host the 1942 U.S. Open, but the event was cancelled after the outbreak of World War II.[1] The club also hosted the 1935 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, which was won by Glenna Collett Vare 3 & 2 over Patty Berg. Berg was a 17-year-old member of Interlachen, and was playing in her first national tournament. She went on to an illustrious amateur and professional career, and was a founding member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). Sebonack features holes that offer panoramic views of Long Island’s Great Peconic Bay and Cold Spring Pond. The visual impact of the water vistas competes for the golfer’s eye with the rolling fairways, expansive bunkers and waste dunes, and undulating greens that present tricky swales and burrows. Meant to look as if manicured by time, Sebonack appears to have fashioned itself from the wild terrain. Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak, two designers with dramatically different styles, have used the natural contours and features of the land to create a unique look. But Trent was an even more forceful personality than the flamboyant Mackenzie, so Peachtree reflects far more of Trent's notions of golf than Bobby's, particularly in designing for future equipment advances. When it opened, Peachtree measured in excess of 7,200 yards, extremely long for that era. It boasted the longest set of tees in America (to provide flexibility on holes) and the country's largest greens (to spread out wear and tear). As it turns out, Trent was a visionary, and decades later others subsequently followed his lead. |

Unlike many links courses (such as those that host the Open), the greens are its primary defense. Like many links courses (such as those that host the Open), its other defenses are the wind, the fesque rough, the imaginative bunkering that highlights the terrain, and the lumpy, bumpy fairways. When the Maxwell/MacKenzie greens are combined with these other natural features, an unusually testing layout is the result, despite the scorecardshowing acourse that barely measures 6,500 yards. To appreciate the challenge of the course, the golfer needs to start with the greens. Fred Muller, the long time professional at Crystal Downs, has seen someone putt off every green at least twice. The pitch on greens like the 2nd or 11th isalmost staggeringas there is in excess of six feet (!) of fall from back to front. The contouring of greens like the 5th and 16th holes is frightening, especially whenone seesthe first puttslide into agreenside bunker. Collectively, the greens at Crystal Downs surely rival those at Oakmont as the most intimidating in golf. |

You could never mistake pictures of it for any other American course, although it is easily confused with some of the best of the British Isles. | Hutchinson, Kan., the center of the United States, is the last place anyone would expect to find a links style course with rolling hills reminiscent of the seaside courses in Scotland. Nestled five miles northeast of Hutchinson, Prairie Dunes is the hidden treasure of Kansas. Emerson Carey, founder of Carey Salt Company, was an avid golfer and had traveled the world with his family, playing top ranked courses in the early 1900s including Scotland in the 1920s. Carey and his four sons became a staple in the Hutchinson golf community, contributing to the development of several courses in the area. In 1935 the Carey family commissioned architectural genius Perry Maxwell (Southern Hills, Colonial Country Club, redesign of Pine Valley and Augusta National) to design a masterpiece. Thus, the idea of Prairie Dunes was born. Maxwell’s response to the 480 acre canvas for his masterpiece, “There are 118 holes here, and all I have to do is eliminate 100?. Thus, construction began on Prairie Dunes. The course was molded from the Kansas land using 18 horses and mules, Fresno scrapers and wheelbarrows. The only mechanized equipment used were Model T and Model A Fords used to bring the workers to the site. Greens and fairways came to life by teams dragging plows and scoops, while roots of native grass and weeds were removed by hand-one wheelbarrowful at a time. In true Kansas fashion, a tornado swept across the site, forcing men into a bunker for protection. Despite the elements, Prairie Dunes opened the first 9 holes on September 13, 1937. Twenty years later in 1957, The Dunes opened the second 9 holes, designed by Perry Maxwell’s son, Press. |

The land that is now Southern Hills Country Club was donated by oilman Waite Phillips. | When the stock market crashed, Mr. Phillips’ fortune was almost totally liquid; it was estimated to be approximately $50 million. He became Chairman of The First National Bank of Tulsa, and he was approached by Bill Warren and Cecil Canary to finance a new country club. They spoke of the need for a family-oriented club that would include a swimming pool, stable, horseback trails, polo field, skeet range, tennis courts, clubhouse and golf course. Golf was not as popular in those days and swimming pools were rare. Mr. Phillips immediately labeled their ideas as ridiculous, noting the more important financial demands of the day. However, he agreed to donate the land for the club if Mr. Warren and Mr. Canary could demonstrate there was a sufficient number of people interested in such a project. Mr. Phillips gave them two weeks to garner pledges from at least 150 Tulsans for $1,000 each, but he would not personally give them a nickel to finance the project. The money was raised and the Clubhouse was constructed in 1936. Perry Maxwell, who designed the Colonial and Prairie Dunes golf courses, was hired to design the Southern Hills golf course. |

Jerry and Betty Rich’s dream began to develop when their amassed farms, a 1,820-acre showcase of nature and agriculture, gave way to one golf hole and a practice area. Then three holes. Then six. After interviewing five architects, Jerry discovered he could draw the plans himself – and did. He even hired a construction company that had never before built a golf course. Though influenced by Augusta and the encouragement of friends Bob Murphy and Sam Snead, Jerry also took inspiration from Dick Wilson’s Pine Tree in Florida. In 1987, Jerry began the development of Rich Harvest Farms and ten years later, all 18 holes were completed. It was rated 5th Best New Private Golf Course by Golf Digest in 1997 and three years later, made Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses. For many people that would be enough. By 2009, the Foundation had introduced over 150,000 Illinois children to the game of golf. Of all Jerry’s accomplishments, he hopes the Foundation will become his legacy. The soil was sandy loam in spots with more than half of the 108 acres located high with nice movement over a river valley. Though the golf architecture work being done in the 1910’s was superior to that of the 1900’s, it was still a far cry short of what would be accomplished during the height of the Golden Age of architecture in the 1920’s. The head golf professional at Milwaukee, Alex Robertson, oversaw the construction of eighteen holes that included more of his ideas than those of Tom Benedelow, who had been called up from Chicago. Parallel holes abounded and Robertson’s eighteen holes felt cramped as they were crammed into the a section of today’s property that only features ten holes. Thus in 1924, another 77 acres were acquired including the yummy section where today’s fifth through eleventh holes reside and Walter Travis was brought in. One might think this would have been the final answer as Travis was a legend within the sport. While he excelled at building features, Travis’s routing skills betrayed him at Milwaukee and the resulting effort paled against his other architectural achievements. Based in New York, it is unclear how much time Travis spent on property. Whatever the reason, though Travis was the most accomplished architect to work at Milwaukee to date, his course actually existed the briefest period of time. The crème de le crème of Milwaukee society demanded something better. Golf became ensconced as an important part of life for the well-heeled of the 1920’s Midwest and numerous courses around greater Chicago captured the grandeur of the game far better than Milwaukee Country Club. A few final pieces to the puzzle came together. First, it was agreed to move the clubhouse somewhat lower and on the edge of the bluff, which opened up the possibility for the high spot of the... |

I am satisfied now that your number IV course is the equal of any golf course I have ever seen and I know of none that is superior, either in beauty or natural terrain." The North Course remains steadfastly faithful to Park's original design, with precious few changes over the decades other than deepened bunkers and additional length. Par for the North Course is 70 strokes played over 7,205 yards with a rating of 75.9 and a slope of 147. The Dunes Course was designed originally in 1924 by Seth Raynor, a well-known East Coast golf architect, but due to his untimely death, the course was finished by fellow golf course architects, Robert Hunter and Dr. Alister MacKenzie, who was also a British surgeon. The highly sought-after golf course architect, Rees Jones, son of legendary golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones, headed the Dunes Course remodel in 1998. |

The layout blends so seamlessly into the landscape that golfers are transported to an earlier time and place. In the luxurious 22,500 square-foot Clubhouse, Members and their guests receive extraordinary service levels from the Hudson National Staff. It is a place where individuals, who share a love for the game of golf, can experience friendship and great food in a relaxed atmosphere. The 260-acre site offers the second highest elevation in all of Westchester County, yet it was extremely difficult terrain over which to route golf holes. Fazio’s team blasted 130,000 cubic yards of rock from a site he termed “previously unworkable.” From the black tees at 7,122 yards, with a course rating of 74.8 and a slope of 145, Fazio has created a world-class challenge. From each of the other four sets of tees, he fashioned an eminently playable layout that will nonetheless demand the shot-making skills of players of all skill levels. |

The Himalayas is shorter but nonetheless, an enjoyable nine holes. Above all, a warm welcome awaits everyone, just as it did when Prince's GC first opened, one hundred years ago. | At the turn of the 19th century, it was decided that a new links should be built at Sandwich, nex door to Royal St. George's. The new Prince's Golf Club would welcome ladies, juniors and men. Charles Hutchings and Percy Lucas laid out the course on land donated by the Earl of Guildford. The 18-hole course, stretching out to almost 7,000 yards, opened for play in 1907. The military commandeered the course during both World Wars; it was virtually obliterated during the Second World War. However, in 1932, Prince's Golf Club proudly hosted its first and only Open Championship. "The Squire," Gene Sarazen, was the eventual winner. Sarazen continued his winning streak, becoming the first player to win all four majors. Sir Guy Campbell and John Morrison were commissioned to re-build Prince's after the devastation of the Second World War and, incredibly, they were able to save 17 of the original greens and incorporate them into the new 27-hold layout. They have created a classic "links and a half," with raised greens, rippled fairways, deep bunkers, and naturally, that famous links rough. |

What was even more amazing, is that Evans carded a two-over-par 286 to defeat Jock Hutchison by two shots, using only seven clubs. | The Minikahda Club has a long and colorful history dating back to 1898, when the key founding fathers, C.T. Jaffray, a powerful and respected financial figure in Minneapolis, Martin Koon, William Edgar, Walter Tiffany and Harry Thayer started the club. The name Minikahda comes from the Sioux, a combination of two Indian words meaning "by the side of the water." The club logo in fact, depicts an Indian shield, similar to the original artifact framed in the clubhouse. By April of 1899 the full complement of 600 members (350 men and 250 women) was secured with a waiting list of 50. On July 15, 1899, Judge Koon, Club president, with suitable ceremony drove the first ball off the first tee. The original Membership fee was of $20 for men and $10 for women. The club's first golf professional, Willie Watson, who designed nearby Interlachen Country Club, along with Robert Foulis laid out the original nine-hole course, with the first shot being struck in the summer of 1899. Seven years later, the board approved plans to purchase additional property for an 18-hole layout. Foulis, Robert Taylor and Jaffray, who served on the Executive Committee of the United States Golf Association, created the new course, which opened in 1907. Renowned course architect Thomas Bendelow was brought in a year later to propose some minor adjustments to the course. |

The greens themselves protect par under normal circumstances by playing so that the ball lightly dents. | The 157 acres that comprise the land that the golf course is situated on is ideal for a parkland golf course. There are rolling hills and quite a lot of elevation changes on individual holes and throughout the course. Streams meander throughout the course, but mostly along the periphery of the holes serving to frame the holes. There are a number of hardwood trees such as oak, sycamore, maple, and ash throughout the course. There is a total of 130 feet of elevation change from the highest point near the 5th green to the lowest point where the creek exits the property on the 8th fairway. The typical course conditions are kept firm and fast through the green. The greens themselves protect par under normal circumstances by playing so that the ball lightly dents. It is hard to dial in approaches due to the maintenance meld and you really have to think about how the ball will react to the aerial game. The ground contours are complex on the approaches to the green. Except for some of the steeply uphill holes (4, 8, 11, 12, and 15) you can play the game along the ground, but local knowledge is very helpful. The only national tournament held at Rolling Green was the US Women’s Open in 1976. This bicentennial event was played at just over 6000 yards, the shortest Open in the modern era. Yet the course provided a stern test for the lady golfers. Sandra Palmer and JoAnne Carner, the previous year’s winner and runner-up, tied at plus eight. Carner shot a 76 but won the playoff the following day as Palmer shot a 78. The club has hosted many local tournaments, such as the Philadelphia Women’s Amateur, where such greats as Glenna Collett Vare, Dorothy Germain Porter, and Helen Sigel Wilson have participated. To this day, par has never been broken in any competition of 36 holes or more. |

Eminently walkable, Lehigh features some very dramatic topography and changes of elevation of 105 feet from the lowest point on the golf course to the highest. The design has a collection of some of the best greensites Flynn ever conceived. With three sets of tees ranging from 5500 to 6600 yards and playing to a par 70, Lehigh offers plenty of challenge and enjoyment to all levels of golfers. There is not an indifferent hole on the course and each one presents its own unique challenges. As we all know, Flynn believed the ground game was integral to a great golf course and Lehigh is no exception. All but three of the greens are often best attacked using the contours of the approaches. The set of four par threes is second to none ranging in length from 177 yards to 226 yards from the back tees. Each is different and all are difficult but great fun to play. Lehigh’s two par fives are two of the best holes on the course. Both offer risk reward options and tempt the bold golfer to reach the green in two. The 11th is the more dramatic of the two with an 80 foot drop from an elevated fairway to the tiny green below tucked just beyond the Lehigh stream. The par fours offer great variety in shot options and design. The shortish ones in particular, are all a thrill to play and loaded with character. Huge specimen trees frame holes and fairways but rarely interfere with well-struck golf shots. It’s hard to find a much better walk anywhere! Sling your clubs over your shoulder or take a caddy and Lehigh is as good as parkland golf gets. |

They purchased a sixty acre property in Bala adjoining Fairmount Park, and constructed a Polo field; hence the horse head logo. A nine-hole Golf course was completed on the site in 1892. The Spring Mill course was originally designed by architect William Flynn, and while many changes had taken place over the decades since it was originally designed, the Club recently returned to the previous design. In 1990, on the occasion of the Club’s Centennial Anniversary, an additional nine holes, designed by Tom Fazio, were dedicated as the Centennial Nine. Every detail was created for the golf purist: A 130-yard wide practice range with tees on both ends and eight bunkered target greens, and a short-game practice area with the six bent grass greens secluded in a grove of towering trees. From the Texas tees, Dallas National can play as tough as any course, measuring 7,326 yards. However, Fazio was careful to ensure playability for Members. With five sets of tees, the course offers unique challenges to players of varying levels. |

Links is an old Scottish word for sandy wasteland, usually near the sea, with bristly grasses and ever prevailing wind. The Links at Spanish Bay are so authentic that even the Monterey coastline mirrors the rugged, natural beauty of Scotland. Here, the golf course provides you with the choice of using your regular shot or a low, running shot to play the firm turf while keeping the ball under the steady ocean breezes. The Links at Spanish Bay was also built with a deep respect for environmental preservation. To further continue this mission, we have designated "environmentally sensitive" areas. Drops are allowed outside of these areas, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation to help us preserve the native plants, birds and animals that make this course so special. |

The course has wide fairways and ample putting surfaces protected by huge hazards. When playing, the emphasis should be on course management, not raw power despite it’s almost 7400 yard length from the tips. There are many notable holes, but none more than the 18th which is a par 4 measuring 485 yards played from an elevated tee to a long narrow fairway with water along the entire left side and extending partially around the green. |
