The University of Colorado Boulder (CU-Boulder), a major research and teaching university, is a dynamic community of scholars and learners situated on a beautiful campus at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Yale is both a small college and a large research university. The College is surrounded by thirteen distinguished graduate and professional schools, and its students partake in the intellectual stimulation and excitement of a major international center of learning. The faculty is known for its special devotion to undergraduate teaching. Many of Yales most distinguished senior professors teach introductory courses as well as advanced seminars to undergraduates. The University of Delaware has a great tradition of excellence, from our roots extending back to a small private academy started in 1743, to the research-intensive, technologically advanced institution of today. The University received its charter from the State of Delaware in 1833 and was designated one of the nations historic Land Grant colleges in 1867. Today, UD is a Land Grant, Sea Grant and Space Grant institution. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching classifies UD as a Doctoral University - Highest Research Activity--a designation accorded less than 3 percent of U.S. colleges and universities. Northwestern University offers a wide range of academic choices, extensive undergraduate research opportunities and a beautiful campus located on the shore of Lake Michigan just outside of Chicago. With more than 4,000 courses and 190-plus majors, minors, certificates and concentrations, anyone can plot their own unique Northwestern direction. Northwestern's six undergraduate schools offer choices in arts and sciences, communication, education and social policy, engineering and applied science, journalism and integrated marketing communications, and music. In addition, Northwestern students can choose from more than 130 study abroad programs in 50 countries. Northwestern's 8,400 undergraduates are collaborative, innovative, committed to success and to service -- and friendly. Alice Lloyd journeyed from Boston to Kentucky in 1915, seeking a milder climate in which to recover from her failing health. In the Appalachian Mountains, she found that education became her lifes work. She truly believed that these hills and hollows held the leaders of tomorrow. Thus, Alice Lloyd College (ALC) was born.From its inception, Alice Lloyd College has placed a supreme value on educating the whole person. The name of the community, Pippa Passes, originated from a poem by Robert Browning called "Pippas Song". Pippa was a poor mill child who passed through the surrounding villages singing lyrics that ultimately changed the troubled lives of the people she encountered. This great work became a symbol for one of the purposes of Alice Lloyd College: the influence of unconscious good upon the world.It was Alice Lloyd and co-founder June Buchanan who saw the spirit of learning prevail both in and out of the classroom, forming the basis of character education. The "Christian Forum" required students to discuss ethical and moral issues, lifes purposes and goals, and Christian standards of conduct. These values were all significant in the total educational experience. Leadership was the desired result of character building.Today, this tradition remains a central focus of Alice Lloyd College. Kentucky State University is a historically black college founded in 1886 as a school dedicated to the sole purpose of training teachers for the African American school-age population. More than 125 years later, KSU has expanded its mission to offer a liberal arts education that prepares a diverse student population to compete in a multifaceted, ever-changing global society. KSU is also a land-grant institution with programs to study and address agricultural and family life issues offered through the College of Agriculture, Food Science and Sustainable Systems. After five years, participants in the program will have an undergraduate degree from Kentucky State and an engineering degree from the University of Kentucky.Alltech and Kentucky State University also have formed a research alliance in which Alltech will provide support for graduate research in agriculture, food sciences and sustainable systems and support undergraduate internships. The purpose of the alliance is to help feed a growing, hungry population by developing sustainable farming techniques and modern farming models. The partnership extends KSUs increased focus on the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields.Further encouraging interest in scientific research as well as having fun while learning about ecosystems, KSU recently introduced Kentucky River Thorobred. As part of the Do Good Initiative, UMD hosted its 6th annual "Do Good Challenge," which inspires students from across campus to take a cause or issue they are passionate about and create the greatest social impact possible, locally and globally. In 2016, Technica, UMD's first all-female hackathon, brought together more than 400 women and girls from across the country to take part in a two-day event to design and build projects related to computer science, engineering and virtual reality. UMD's faculty includes Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners and members of the National Academies. Students learn from world-class experts and share classes with exceptionally motivated, high-achieving students. Undergraduates select from nearly 100 majors and 25 living-learning programs with 30 areas of focus. UMD helped pioneer living-learning programs, including launching the nation's first program devoted to entrepreneurship in 2001 and the first focused on cybersecurity in 2013. Half of UMD's fall freshmen enroll in these and other honors or scholars programs. UMD's Honors College challenges the most talented students in small seminars with like-minded classmates. College Park Scholars, an innovative living-learning program, engages students and faculty in learning beyond the classroom around a variety of topic areas. UMD's entrepreneurial faculty provide leadership in pivotal fields, such as climate change, national security, foreign languages, nanotechnology, energy storage, health care IT, food safety, and quantum science. Since the 1960s, researchers at UMD have partnered with NASA to conduct space missions, including Voyagers I and II and the more recent pioneering Deep Impact missions to nearby comets. UMD researchers are heavily involved in trans-disciplinary environmental research, including work to restore and protect the nearby Chesapeake Bay. Focused on a student-centered approach to learning and teaching, the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center opened in May 2017, featuring labs, informal study spaces, group study rooms, and technology-enhanced classrooms with flexible seating that helps encourage active learning and collaboration. Only nine miles from the White House, the Smithsonian, Library of Congress, and National Archives, and near the metropolitan and educational attractions of Baltimore, the lush 1,335-acre campus mixes advanced labs and educational facilities with state-of-the-art recreational opportunities. UMD and its 14,000 trees are designated as an arboretum and botanical garden. The U.S. EPA has recognized UMD as one of the nation's most sustainable campuses.

Over the course of the 2015-2016 academic year, more than 60 entrepreneurship courses were offered.Several MIT departments, labs, and centers foster entrepreneurship and innovation at MIT including the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund Program, and the MIT Innovation Initiative to name a few. MIT also has over 40 student clubs and initiatives involved in entrepreneurship or innovation, among them the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition, MIT Clean Energy Prize, and conferences such as Hacking Arts and Hacking Medicine.The MIT community brings its energy and creativity outside the classroom as well with 500+ student-run groups, 33 varsity sports, 18 intramural sports, 33 club sports, and more than 60 music, theater, visual arts, writing, and dance groups. It's just a short walk across the Charles River to Boston where students can enjoy the city's fabulous restaurants or take in Boston culture. Many programs around MIT allow students to get reduced-price tickets to various events, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the American Repertory Theater, and Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox games. Students get free admission daily to the Museum of Science, the Museum of Fine Arts, and all Harvard University and MIT museums.
